I did it! I got a snow day at work, so I read Dick's write up and did the locker mod. Works great, and it seems like it engages a lot faster now too. As an added bonus, the stock indicator light still works, and it still disables ABS/VSC. If you ground out the blue wire with the yellow stripe (wich is what the locker indicator switch in the rear end does) it disables ABS and VSC just like you are in 4LO in 2HI. I plan on putting an "oh sh!t" switch somewhere to disengage that seperately. All of the wires are right there at the 4WD computer, so no need to roll under her and mess with the ones along the framerail. Overall, I had a successful snow day.

Figures, Dicks way was the easy way, and guess what, it works. Now I have to go do it. Good job tacosupreme.

Pics of testing it out... If I can stay out of the drivers seat for ten minutes I will try to do an 05 version of Dick's writeup, but it was pretty easy to figure out by his writeup. I haven't mounted the switch yet, it's just sitting in one of the blank spots next to the clutch start cancel switch. I might end up using two of those toggles with the safety covers (like the ones you see in the movies to arm nukes) one to lock, one to unlock. I am happy as a puppy with two peters to finally get it done though.

So are the wires the same color code as in Dick's write-up? Why would you use 2 switches? Is grounding out the VSC/ABS with the other wire just another optional mod or is it related to Dick's write-up? Nice work btw

NO the colors aren't the same. In Dick's writeup Green/red= blue on our truck. Orange on dicks writeup = Pink on our trucks. The power source (red)is whatever you make it., just be sure to use a wire that turns off with the ignition and one that's fused of course. I wanted a seperate switch to ground the blue wire with the white stripe because ABS and VSC suck in the snow and what if I want to do donuts without the locker on? I wish I would have done this months ago, it feels like a new toy again!

Orange? Is the actual wire at the ECU different than the wiring diagrams?
Going into the ECU, it says it's blue. (From the motor to the first connector it's Green/red, then changes to Blue)
Diagram messed up or typo?

Another question... what if any wires/connections did you have to disconnect from the ECU or bridge to keep the ECU from going haywire with it all disconnected?
What power did you tap into? The original Lock switch?

man you are totally right. I was trying to do it from memory, my bad. I'll edit the above posts. I just clipped four wires from the 4WD ECU connector F-12 pins 1,2, 10, 20 I think. Those are the ones that run to the switch, then two hot wires and that's it. No weird dash lights, just the ones that are supposed to come on. My switch differed a little from his though, it had six posts, but it worked the same.

4 Wires... So the 2 from the actuator motor, and the 2 from the limit switch? and then you just have to find a power wire and the blue/yellow wire stays put to run the indicator light, ABS, & VSC? (or put in a switch or disconnect to control manually)

Sound about right?

(sorry, I'm not nit-picking... just making sure I understand this right)
Guess you need to get out of the truck and finish that write-up!! *lol*

Let me guess... the OEM swtich is still connected, but if you push it, THEN stuff goes haywire. right? *LOL*

I think I got it... let me know i'm a little off and I'll update that PDF graphic later.

Yeah dude, two from the motor, two from the limit switch, and the indicator wire stays put. The only thing that happens if you push the factory switch is that the lock light blinks. I have a few other ideas I'm working on too, like a front axle disconnect switch so you can be in 2LO, using a set of relays off of the stereo controls on the steering wheel for the locker, abs mod, and whatever else I can think of. I just need the time. Well somebody else do it so I have somebody to BS with about how cool it is-
Edit- just found a link to the old school 2LO mod, same theory on ours, we just don't have a manual lever. http://www.wattora.com/mods/twolow/
