What do you mean by backspacing? Are you referring to wheel offset? I'm trying to find that out.

Backspacing is the distance from the wheel mounting pad to the inner edge of hte wheel, usually measured in [in]
Offset is the distance from the wheel mounting pad to the true center of the wheel, usually measured in [mm]

The pre 05 wheels are 16x7 with 15 mm offset. The same size as the 05's.

I think it would stick out significantly. A 0 offset on a 16x8 inch rim would have a BS at around 4". So about half the wheel (on a 265, about 3 and 1/2 inches) will be sticking out of the wheel well. Lots of stablility, harder to turn (i.e. larger turing radius).
