Default The rear bumper tweeked at 5 mph

So I go to the bank to get some money, and this b***h in her Hyundai Santa Fe is backing up at a moderate speed straight runs into the back of my truck. It wasn't too loud but enough to grab my attention. She gets out and looks around. I try to hurry up and get my money so I can go estimate the damage. I walk to up and see that her bumper has some scratches. I look over at my bumper and the right side is pushed in more than the left side with the chrome straight peeling where it got hit. I was pissed off in my head but handled the situ with just my eyebrows arched. We exchanged info, but I'm a little disturbed on how sh**ty and easily the bumper support got tweeked.

I'll post some pics later on tonight.

the freakin mounts in the front are made of aluminum also and it looks REAL weak. I think if i busted a round house kick with steel toes i could damage the bumpber. but then again i'm a karatae master! ha!

That sucks bro. I always worried about the front and rear bumper, they dont look too strong.

Honestly I ain't surprised one bit if you did. . . Well, if the front bumpers are now coming in plastic, that should be a forewarning how weak trucks are becoming

Shoot, the 03 GMC Sierra 2500 HD did cross my mind plenty of times, but I couldn't get passed how outdated/cheap the interior looked plus 45K for a truck!! It was a toss up between the Titan crew cab and the '05 Tacoma dbl cab. . . should of got the Titan!

Man, that does stinks...luckily you can ensure HER insurance pays for the repair!

One thing about the speed...5 mph IS slow but the Sante Fe weighs 3,500 (4,000 if 4 x4) so you have to facter that into the reason for the bent bumper. (mass x velocity)

Good luck!

Boo

I wish trucks had to follow the same rules as cars. All car bumpers must manage a 5Mph impact with no damage. on trucks and SUV's that rule does not apply, infact they average $1000-$1500 worth of damage form 5mph

(at least that is what I remeber from some documantary from about 5 years ago)
