I purchased the truck for 26,600 before taxes (seems like the going rate)
Heres what I installed on the third day of ownership.
lift = 3" toytec lift with fabtec long add a leaf
wheels = Helo Maxx 8 16 x 8 w/4.5 BS
tires = 285/75/16 nitto terra grappler tires
observations with setup:
a) Tires rub slightly when turning to full lock.
b) Gas mileage is a steady 16 MPG city with a six speed
c) The ride is way better than the F-250 I traded in
Future mods:
-some kind of exhaust
-a carbon fiber bugshield, but cant find a photo of one on a tacoma
-debating on a set of westin chrome step bars
-waiting for a radio kit too!
Your truck looks bada$$. Verry nice choice on those dope rims.
Suggestions though,
- I have never seen a carbon fiber bugshield on any truck
- if I had the money right now, I'd get a Flowmaster Super 40
- Get the Aries polished stainless steel nerf bars
- and yes, I'm waiting for the stereo dash kit too!
I want to get an 06 when they come out and will lift it for sure. Where does it rub? Mud Flaps? Frame? etc...I don't know if I will go 285's or 265 75's. Your set up does look nice...
It rubs on the mud flap. I am going to take them off and modify them. It has a little bump that looks like it can be removed with a dremel. It actually doesn't rub that bad, that's why I've been procrastinating on doing it.
Awesome truck by the way but I have a couple questions for you. I'm looking at mating up some Terra Grapplers to my Maxx 6 wheels soon. Problem I am thinking about is I hate the stock Duelers because they pick up so many small rocks and throw them everywhere. Have you noticed this with the Terra Grapplers? Also what did you pay for the lift kit and where did you purchase at?
Thanks!

These tires aren't gravel magnets like the stock tires. This is the second vehicle I had these on. I selected these tires because of the long treadwear, the treadwear rating is 500, which is pretty darn good. They also are not as loud as some of the true off road tires (like mud terrains), but they still have that aggressive squared off road look to them.
The lift kit is from Toyteclifts.com. I paid $230. I liked the quality of the aluminum spacer instead of the competitors.
I installed the kit. It was very easy. It took me a total of 4 hours to do. I'd say the hardest part was taking the struts to a repair shop to have the new spacer installed on the struts. It cost $28 for a shop to do it. Its just like putting shocks on a car.
Nice rig. I have the same setup in Silver. I recommend the following:
Accessory skidplate - will look sweet on your truck;
chrome exhaust tip - inexpensive mod and looks clean;
Tint those front windows for the complete look.
Can you post a cost breakdown for your lift, rims, and tires? Ive got a Access Cab sport and you have inspired me. I need some numbers to start working on the wife ;o)
