The sequence number (i.e., serial number) in my VIN is 0944xx, built late May 05.
Does that mean there has been nearly 95,000 Tacos built for 2005? Wonder if that includes all Tacos made for non-domestic sales also.
Anyone have info?
My VIN is 0444xx, built 01/05 in CA. I think that mine is one of the original batch of 7,000 made there (I saw that in a thread here awhile ago)but I doubt that they have made 95,000 yet, even with the Mexico plant open now...

hey Slamdtaco i know you used to drive some lowered tacos. I was just wondering out of curiosity if you still drive the lowered tacos and which you prefer driving now that you've been in both lowered and offroad versions.
I've been driving only lowered trucks since I was 16. I'm 33 now. I love this new truck. It should be lifted with 33s by next weekend. Most of my lowered trucks were done the right way and had a nice ride. I love the new view I have being up in the air now. I see things I never saw before while going down the same roads. I would love to get a 2nd truck to bag and body drop though, maybe someday.

Sweet. Do you still have any of your older lowered tacos? and yeah I think the new X would be a nice ride to bag and body drop. Im interested in getting some 33's as well with some black helo maxx 6 in black with the polished lip. Post up some pics after you get the job done.
I only have the 05. you can see some pics of my other truck on customtacos under the same user name.
I'll be sure to post new pics

I am trying to understand the VIN numbering also....my truck was built in May of 05 with the last 6 digits of 001244....how do I know if it was built early May or late May..?

Wow ... that's really different than mine which was also a May 2005 build. Obviously, the last 6 digits are not serial number related to the numbers built.

Quite possibly, one was built in CA and the other in Meheeco. That might explain the dfference in the last 6 digits, assuming there is some sort if difference in the first digits somewhere (i.e. like a 2 digit combo that reflects where built). Just a guess.

Good theory ... I'm sure there is something different in the VIN on a Mexico built taco.
