Default Any way to disable the Key Warning?

I go camping alot with my friends and we always take my truck (of course!) I like to play music at the camp if we are not far from the car. So I have my iPod hooked to the sterio and the key to ACC. Is there any way to disable the beeping warning when I open the driver door? The music is so much easier to hear with the doors open and I dont want to hear the beeping.

On my older truck I had just disconnected the beeper itself. Look under the dash and find out where the sound is from and unplug it if you can.

I think in the owner's manual there is a statement regarding this specifically and it say DO NOT do this.

Your right it says that if you leave it in the "on" position if the engine is not running, the battery will discharge and the ignition could be damaged.

I'm surprised the thing beeps with the key in ACC position. You can't lock the doors if the key is in the ignition, so don't know why it should be beeping when using ACC. ... think Toyota, think!

I agree there! I can understand if it was in the off position.

I will have a look under the dash to see if I can find the beeper, I dont really want to disconnect it though because it is probably the same beeper for the other warnings too.

Hook a toggle switch inline with the beeper so you can turn it off only when you want to.

Thats a good idea. That would be a great mod, I will see what I can do to make it work.

I usually open the drivers side window (door closed) and open the passenger side door when I wanna enjoy the tunes after washing the car. Or use some duct tape on the button triggering the beeping.

This is exactly what I do, just throw some tape on the little button while your listening, and take it off when you're done.

I took the beeper out of my older tacomas, but havn't found it on the 05 yet. I think it's inside the fuse box under the dash. I just havn't taken it apart yet to find out for sure.
