    Question Retractable Antenna???

    Hey Guys
I have seen many pics of the '05 Tacoma and in some of them I noted that the radio antenna was not there. It isn't mentioned on the Tacoma's webpage or in its brochure, but does it have a retractable antenna? And if so, is it power or manual? Thanks.

Then why in some pictures is the antenna visible and in others not visible. By not visible, I mean you cant see the shaft, just a short metal stub. (No pun intended, for those of you with sick minds!)??!!! If you look at the pictures archives on this very website for the '05 Taco, you'll see what I mean.

I don't know what to tell you. Pictures can lie. Maybe they unscrewed it for the photo shoot. I can assure you it's not an option.

Yeah - they unscrewed it for all of the brochure pictures - even Toyota thinks that the fixed antenna is tacky. I put a short antenna (from a Honda S2000) on my Celica and it seemed to work fine and it looked a lot better. I'm still trying to decide what to do with my Tacoma - someone posted a link to a company that made billet antennas that looked pretty cool - search this forum.

OK, thanks. It just puzzled me and I didn't think about unscrewing it. A retractable antenna would be cool, though, and somewhat advantageous. If you go off-roading it is a good idea to take off or lower your antenna to prevent damage or breakage. I think that would be a good option on the Tacoma.
