Default Quick question for those with new radios.

Did anyone else install a radio with a built in amp (i.e. 50watt x 4) and use the factory yellow wire to hook up to the new HU? The fuse in the block is rated at 10 amps and I need 15 amps. Does anyone know if the 10 amp was a limitation on the factory unit or in the wiring itself? In other words, would installing a 15 amp fuse into the current 10 amp slot for the factory radio cause a meltdown in the wiring or a fusible link. Would ask Glenn, but I think he is still on vacation. Thanks in advance.

    10A 16ga wire
    15A-14ga wire
    20A-12ga wire
    30A-10ga wire

If you run more current through a conductor than its rating you run the risk of meltdown or fire.

I used the factory wire but only use the low power outputs of the head unit to drive an external amp powered by a much larger wire and fuse.

I would say try it using the yellow and factory fuse.
10 amps may be plenty depending on speakers and how
loud you like to crank it :0
