Default Cargo Bars / Cargo and Bikes

Looking for anyone who has installed the cargo bars on their 05 Tacoma yet. I've been researching different ways to carry my bikes, skis and cargo basket and figured this was the most universal solution. I have all Yakima accessories already and the cargo bars are supposed to come with a set of Yakima mighty mounts.

Anyone installed the cargo bars and are using them for any or all of the purposes I'm thinking about? (photos if you have???)

Thanks

P.S. If you don't use the cargo bars have you found an aftermarket bed solution that doesn't require removal of the tire for a bike. I saw an 04 Tacoma with Yakima bars across the bed but I can't find any product they make now that will attach without drilling.

I had made my own but they didn't prove sturdy enough for me, so I bought a pair of Toyota ones and they're great. I have a Yakima Mega Warrior Basket and mount the bikes in it, I do have to take off the front wheel though. I mounted a fork mount holder to the front of the basket, it's not a Yakima unit but it works all the same. The bars themselves are super easy to install, they bolt right to the cleats. I don't take them out of my bed so I bought another set of cleats to use as tie downs for light cargo. I don't keep the basket mounted all the time because I'm afraid someone might steal it and they're not the cheapest things in the world. Bought mine for around $300. It does look good when it's mounted though. I'll try and post some pics later.

I have the Toy cargo bars. I use it with my Yakima ski rack to hold my snowboards. These things work great!! They keep the boards out of the air to reduce drag on long trips (and save gas ). And instead of them lying around the bed they are locked up so they won't get (or will be harder to) ripped off. And you don't have to reach all the way up on the roof to secure them in, they are right there in the bed.

Beware though.. when I got my bars they came with 2 sets of mighty mounts. 2 mounts for vertical installation and 2 mounts for horizontal installation. I have yet to find another set for vertical install. I just force the horizontal mounts to be vertical. I have no idea why they did this, but they did.

Sorry: I have no pics though. I have already removed them for the summer. I might be puting a Yakima cargo rack on the back soon though. If I do I'll snap some shots for ya.

Cool.. thanks for the response. Picking up a set tomorrow (had some in stock). Thanks for the tip on the mighty mounts as well. Question though?... did they have the Mighty Mount number on them? I have a sports store not far from here that has a wall of Mighty Mounts. If it's one of their normal numbered ones I'll pick up another set. I'm sure the universal mighty mounts would fit as well though??? maybe???

They didn't have the Yakima number on them. I think they are a 4V mighty mount, but not 100%. The universal (the round ones that you cut small pieces out to make the square) mounts don't fit around the bar. Like I said, I just forced the horizontal mount to be vertical. It wasn't that hard, the plastic is kinda soft.

Any chance anyone has used these cross bars by directly fastening Yakima's bicycle racks to the bars? I have a couple of Steelheads and I'm trying to figure out if these cross bars will work with my racks.
