OK, so as you all should know the Huntington Beach 2005 Meet will take place on August 27, 2005. We'd love for anyone and everyone to attend. Here's what we're looking to do
(Optional) Meetup somewhere in OC, right off the freeway somewhere around 9am. We can all meet up there then cruise to the meeting spot in HB. This would basically be for the So Cal people that are coming in from all over. Those coming in from out of town and staying HB would probably not want to drive out of their way and back to meet up here.
Roll to HB about 10am and hopefully everyone starts meeting up then. This will be the bulk of the meet. Thanks to Jeremy Mullins we have a few interesting things lined up. In addition to all the normal activities (meet and greet, showing off, hanging out, playing at the beach, getting some sun) we will have an SPL clinic and SPL meter so all you bass-heads can get some tips on how to maximize the performance of your system and find out exactly how hard your system hits! There's also the good chance of getting an Image Dynamics demo ride out there to give everyone something to 'ohhh' and 'awe' about! We're also going to have a raffle and a mini-car show. There will be different categories such as best in show, best mini, etc. Jeremy is also planning on coming through with some awesome awards in the form of audio gear from ID. Raffle tickets will be sold, with prizes being more audio gear. Proceeds from the raffle will go directly to the festivities happening that night (more on that later). We will also be grilling. I have a mobile grilling trailor so we can have hot dogs, hamburgers, carne asada, or whatever else you guys feel like having all day long!
For those worried about the parking situation, Chris (Midknight XRunner) is going to work on getting us a permit of some sort, hopefully allowing us to have a parking lot all to ourselves so we can have our fun without the worry of dumbasses in Neons parking next to our trucks ruining the photo-ops We're also trying to set it up so that we can have a HUGE group shot (if anybody has access to any sort of high rise and can help us out, let us know!). Also, there aren't any promises, but someone will be speaking to people at a certain magazine of interest to many CT members about hopefully getting some sort of coverage of the event. Again, no guarantees, but it could be a possibility. With so many great prizes and possible magazine coverage on the line, you guys will definitely want to make sure your rides are as clean as possible for the day.
Once we all get tired of the afternoon sun we will all leave the beach and cruise PCH. After the cruise we will stop at either a Starbucks or some place where we can all park and get some sort of pick-me-up and shoot the sh!t some more, or we could even stop at a restaurant so we can all drink and eat even more. Afterwards we would probably all head back to home or hotels to chill out for a little bit. But the night wouldn't be over.
We would like to get all people that are planning on attending from out of town to stay in the SAME hotel. With the raffle money received that day we will get a couple rooms that we can trash (raffle money will also cover all 'necessities'). We'd like for this idea to really take off, so the more people at the hotel, the better! If you're not local to HB, it would be a good idea to get a room of your own so that you can have a place to crash and not worry about driving home drunk or buzzed. We'd like to get as many rooms together on the top floor as possible. If anybody has any suggestions for hotels in the HB area that aren't expensive, please post up!
For those that were at the planning meet tonight, if I messed anything up or missed something, please add or correct me.
Also, last year we had nearly 35 vehicles attend (I say vehicles because there were a couple Scions and a couple non-Toyotas), this year we're hoping to up that number (and we probably will). If you only make it to one meet this year, THIS IS THE ONE! Trust us, you don't want to miss it. If you do, you'll be kicking yourself for the rest of the year when the only thing anybody can talk about is how great HB was. This is the closest thing to a "national" CT meet there is. Request your time off now! If its too late for that, plan on calling in sick, it will be WELL WORTH IT! For those coming in from out of town, if you come in Friday there WILL be something to do. Whether its just hang out with a few local members or a party at a hotel, you will stay busy, so anyone that would like to come from Nevada, Arizona, or Nor Cal, don't feel like you'd drive all the way out for a 1 day thing.
Also, this doesn't have to be CT only. I plan on posting this on ToyotaNation.com and I'll invite everyone, not just the Tacoma population.
