For those that may be interested I'm posting my last 5 months worth of mileage logs for my 05 Tacoma DC. The logs include what type of fuel was used, cost of fuel, miles per tank and overall mileage average. The spread sheet is broken into three tabs. The first tab is overall truck mileage. The second tab is daily mileage and the third tab is mileage obtained while towing a 5000# 26' travel trailer. Towing miles are highlighted in yellow.
I should add.. most of these miles are freeway (sorta) in California commute traffic. I commute 70 miles a day with speeds ranging from 30mph average to 75mph depending on the day.
Have fun with the numbers:

I've been recording my mileage as well, but only on my third tank. Will try to remember to share once I get enough miles on it.
Do you use synthetics?
No synthetics here yet. Not sure if I will make the plunge. I'm very happy with the truck as is and I'm not really into the whole "performance mod" arena. I bought the truck to pull my trailer so my philosophy is "if it aint broke don't 'fix' is"

I'm having trouble opening the attachment. It keeps opening to a "You need to register to view..etc" when I try to download it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance, John

If I was pulling alot I'd go with synthetic for sure. Synthetics have a lot more good qualities besides maybe giving a little more mpg.

You have to be a paying subscriber (which I see you are, so something else must be wrong) to see some things on this website. I can see paying to get access to the manuals and TSBs, etc but IMO not to info that fellow members post like this.
I finally got it to work, needed to download the excel program to open it. The numbers look pretty good without the towing. About 20% better fuel economy than a Tundra. With gas going up daily (I paid $3.75 for reg at Huntington Lake in the Sierra Neveda), 20% helps. The towing numbers look OK, but the short distances skew the numbers lower than you might get on a longer tow on flat land. It looks like you got around 14-15 when you towed longer distances (gets rid of the low numbers from starting/stopping, etc). I am still walking the fence between the Tacoma DC and Tundra DC or Silverado 1/2 ton CrewCab with the 5.3. Part of me says that I will not drive over 7-10,000 miles a year using the truck and will commute (15,000 miles a year) with a small car most of the time. That means that the mileage might not cost me as much in dollars at the end.
