Default Toyota Tacoma front seat covers fit loose

Just received and installed a new set of Toyota front seat covers. Seats are sport seats and covers the same. Am disappointed in the fit of the latter. Seem loose. Yes, did tuck in the "bar" tightly. Any tips on getting a tight fit? Anyone else have this problem?

If you pushed them tight thats all you can really do, mine looked loose at first but after sitting in them for a week they worked out the wrinkles and looked much better.

You could take them off and put them on again to make sure they are tight but I would say use them for a week or so and let them break in.

What kind've seat covers are they? The TRD ones? How much do they run?
I need to get some covers for mine but haven't liked anything I've seen. I've got some covers from Cabello's on my sequoia & was thinking of just getting some of those for the tacoma.

I thought I had the bar in tight but really didn't. I got a 1" wooden dowl rod and pushed down and the bar and it really tighten things up. I had taken the covers out a few times before this worked and thought at one time I would give up but once you have them in correctly my guess is you will love them.

Yes, there are the TRD covers. My Toyota dealer wanted $199 PER SEAT!!! (they usually treat me rather decent). Got mine on EBAY for ca. $159 for the pair. I know folks here have gotten them even cheaper.

Thanks for the tip re the dowel rod. It HAD crossed my mind to try something like a broomstick handle, but haven't had time to try it yet. I hope this works as I otherwise do like the covers.

Thanks, StumpyHauler05. The dowel rod application tightened up the seats considerably.

If you are in the market for seat covers, see the post I listed for sheep skin covers that I bought for my Tacoma (at Costco).

They fit perfect and the price is only $32.00 each.

Mine fits fine. But passenger side is "floating". Check my gallery.

My local dealer has them on sale (20% off) for $160 for the pair. Your dealer must be ignorant or a rip-off artist.

FWIW it is possible to get the passenger seat real tight if you leave the bottom cover off at the front of the seat, then fold the seat flat (forward) and then pull the bar right out at the back, then fold the seat back up. The bar is now fully at the back of the seat and the covers have enough give to easily pull them over the fronts of the bottom seat. With the seat in the upright position there is no way the bar will come through and the covers are nice and tight. The driver seat is a problem though. You can only push the bar in so far without putting a hole in the neoprene rubber (I did use the dowel technique mentioned above). I've only had mine for a short while but I suspect I'll be fighting with that bar all the time. The best part of these covers, IMO, is that they fully wrap the Edges of the bottom seats. Again, I've only had my truck a short while but I was already starting to see wear at the point where I tend to slide in and out. I know some step bars would help with that problem, but I'll have to save up my penny's for those! Hope that helps!

I am expecting my seat covers to be delivered today...just wondering what you guys mean by using a dowel rod to tighten up the seats..?

    More details would be appreciated...
    Thanks

    BUMP

I'd also be interested in this dowel rod technique...

The bar on the passenger side was broken in half and that one went very easily and fits very well. However, the driver side is a complete and udder PITA!! Fits loose and I thought I broke my finger trying to get the SOB in between the seat.

I installed them in the cold so when I first got in the seat was a tad chilly, but it quickly warmed up. The TRD covers are definitely comfy...now if only they'd fit better.
