You can't just buy replacement speakers to fit. You have to get baffles from tacotunes.com or make or buy baffles made from MDF.
Take a look at tacotunes.com and you'll see what I mean. There are several threads on this subject as well.
Well that is mostly true. I didn't buy anything though. I just gutted my stock speakers and used the shells to mount the new speaker. Free, easy, and works. Not an audiophile's setup, but works.

LOL!
I did the exact same thing, before tacotunes was an option. I used zip ties to mount my Alpines to the shells, worked great and no problems in almost a year.

LOL yea the stock magnets are pathetic. You have to cut them out and probably trim out some of the plastic out the back.

I used Tacotunes mounts for the 6x9 and 6.5, install was a breeze...literally. I mounted them in 20 degrees...without the wind chill factored in.
My Alpine SPR's sound great on the factory amp, but I totally am up for a 4 channel alpine amp now. Robsatx? Wanna sell me more stuff? answer my question about the size of the speakers above the 6x9's in the front door. When I get my Eclipse setup, I'm pump it all with the alpine amp and maybe...a subwoofer kit.
hehe what did gutting them involve? Gently shaking them till the cone fell out. Seriously I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw those pathetic things.
Mike
That is tooooo dammmmmmm funny.
Mine sound great, but I also do have an old-school Kove-Audio 10" DVC with 600Wt Planet Audio bumping in the back .... Maybe it covers up the distortion ...
LOL, I'm just kidding. My XRunner sounds great. - I dont understand the problem .... Maybe my XR has an ''upgraded package'' (yeah, right)
