No problem here either. If I remember correctly though...and I don't always do that well...this was one of the couple nuts/bolts I have found on my truck that was not metric...go figure.
The problem wasn't with the nut backing out, it was with it not tightening at all, or very little. Apparently the threads became too "relaxed". I will be using red Loctite once the new nuts come in. As a matter of fact, I'll be using it on everything I took off, except for the lug nuts. BTW, I found it much easier to remove the whole shock assembly by disconnecting the tie rod, it doesn't matter because you have to get it aligned anyway.
I checked every damn nut I could find, both metric and standard inch, none would fit, either too tight or too loose.

I didn't have that problem at all. We used a wrench to turn the nut and a cressant wrench to hold the strut stud steady. It tightened back up. I do go and check all the bolts and nuts every oil change. All of them are still tight.

I completed my install on Wednesday, after starting it on Saturday. Had to wait for the new lock nuts to come in. I installed the 2" Toytek spacers, it is perfectly level now. 36 1/2" from ground to bottom of fender flares on both front and rear wheels.

Johnny Law, what kit exactly did you go with ? Didn't see it in the thread. Did you go with any type of AAL for the rear ? I want to level mine out also, that's it....just level. Thanks

I didn't go with any AAL's because of some member's reporting a shake, noise or vibration with a complete lift. I wanted to avoid this (obviously). I bought the TAC2 spacers. They are just the spacers, no other hardware needed or included. They have these spacers listed under "Other Products". Here's the link http://www.toyteclifts.com/spacersoffroad.htm
I didn't know when I bought this kit if it would level the truck, but it did perfectly, I was pleasantly surprised. Go for it.

Thanks for the info. Johnny Law. Going to order mine today. Do you have any plans on aftermarket wheels/tires ? I'm thinking I just want to level her out, I need some Ivan Stewart wheels and probably 265/75/16's. I like the look of those 285's but, not sure I want to go 3 inches up and deal with the gas mileage difference. Thanks again.
I finally got around to putting my pinion shims in the rear. That didn't fix the shaking. I took it to a custom spring and driveline shop, they looked at it and said that the AAL is the problem. It adds more strength to the rear of the spring, but give less to the front. If you get under the truck you will see that the AAL covers almost the full length of the rear part of the spring, but only about 6-8 inches of the front. They said that they could custom make me one, or go with the deaver setup. The pinion angle is fine BTW.

I've been wrestling with this for awhile now. I'm either going with the 265/75/16's, or the thinner but taller 255/85/16's. Except that the last size isn't really popular and it's harder to find in a manufacturer's lineup. I'd like some aftermarket wheels, but with kids and such, that might have to be put on hold. Staying away from the heavier, wider 285's, for the same reason, gas.

I just ordered a new set of 315x75-16 Toyo mudders for mine so we'll see how those go... They're quite a bit heavier than the 285x75-16's I have on now..

Day-ummm! I think that's the widest I've heard of putting on the new gen. Tacomas. Of course, you will have to let us all know and see how that goes

I'm getting ready to order my 3" ToyTec kit but am debating on doing the full kit with AAL & diff drop. I think I'll give it a whirl and see if I have any vibration issues.
