The Muth supplied wiring has some type of circuit board spliced into it covered in shrink tube. This is where they put the timer, the heater runs for 10 minutes and then automatically shuts off. To me the cost of the wiring with this feature is worth it.
I did find a black round rocker switch at Auto Zone of all places that blends in well with the dash. It has a small red LED indicator instead of the whole switch lighting up. The voltage rating was the same for the supplied switch so even swap.

There's nothing special about the switch they provide; in the instructions they provide a link to the one they use (to get ones of different colours); and on that site they have the schematics of the switch. It is a toggle switch; with 2 seperate circuits (one for the light and main one...) that are both switched 'on' at the same time! I believe the circuit shuts off the LED after the 10 mins (can anyone confirm? - I guess I'll find out when I hook all this up!); most likely breaking the entire circuit. The only issue is the 10Amps - but most Toyota switches should work...I'm going to find out tomorrow...

Any luck finding a switch? Do you have these mirros installed? I am from Guelph, and thinking of getting a set, where did you get them from?
I did install the mirrors this weekend - all went pretty well; except a few problems...the drivers side mirror rubs at the top - it's not spaced properly (passenger side is fine)...the turn indicators work great.
As for the heaters - they worked from 1 heat cycle - then they stoped working. The switch light was dim; but I did wire it per the instructions; in hindsight - I should have switched the wires and seen if the light was brighter or dimmer...my guess is they (Muth) wired the H-Mod wrong; or their instructions are wrong...I think it pooched the H-Mod; so I'll have to get another one...
I've got a call into Muth - left a message; not reply back yet. I did read about others having the same 'rubbing' problem; didn't hear any problems with the H-Mod kit...we'll see how it goes.
On a note on the switch - Toyota here in Canada charges $70 for the fog light switch; I found it online for $25. I can't seem to find the schematics on it; so for the money I think I'll just order it and see what happens - ie...see if it will work.
I'll post once I have the switch figured out; or the problems resolved with Muth...

Call them or email info@brandnewauto.com - you'll be talking with Rob - he's a good guy to deal with - I believe it cost me $290ish US - For Bi-Colour heated mirrors with the H-Mod kit. When you order it - see if Rob can have it shipped directly from Muth - and not one of their distrubutors - mine came from a distrubutor and it didn't have the correct positioning in the housing - cost me approx $80 to get a new one and send the old one back (all customs fees and shipping - obviously it was covered under warrenty). I just emailed Sue at Muth to complain about how they shipped it...we'll see if they cover any of that.
As for the mirrors - they work great; it's awesome to have heated now - and I'm still waiting for that switch to show up so I can test it out.

I figured I would bring up this thread while it was still warm outside. Has anyone cam up with a good switch for the mirrors yet?
I know this is an old thread, but I finally got around to hooking up my mirrors (hey it's only been around a year since I bought them.
I used 06 Sienna mirrors (they are identical to the Tacoma) and was able to buy them with the heating elements already on them for $42.00 a piece.
Thanks to a memebr on tacoma world I ordered a OEM switch for a 03 Highlander and installed it. It fits perfect and has a built in 15 minute timer. It ties into your dash lights so that when you dim them the switch symbol dims as well. The only thing I had to do was order a replacement bulb as our dash lights are amber/orange colour vs. the Highlander that has green dash lights.
I would make sure you use a relay though as I found out the hard way that the switch connot handle much current.
