I had an ultra start remote starter installed the other day. Everthing worked fine when I picked up the truck. On the highway the brakes locked up. I found out from mechanic that all 4 brakes were locking but then would slowly release as the battery died. Shop had the truck and though that the wire they taped for the brake wire to shut the starter unit off, may have back feed into the ABS system causing the brakes to lock up. They said they had fixed the problem but only to have this happen again but a lot further down the road from the previous spot it happend. What is your diagnosis?

Remote starter module should not send voltage to the brake wire as yours seems to be faulty in this way. Voltage is aplied from the foot brake switch to the module to shut down remote start unit. Also how did they fix the problem? The only wire that should have been used is the blue wire at the brake switch location.
WTF? I've done my share of remote starts for pet projects, but I've never heard of something like that before. Like it was mentioned, the only wiring that has to do with brake would be the auto-shutoff for if when you stick the key in the ignition to handover the remote start back to the car. This sounds shady... Although, in my Supra, when I first got it back from the installer, the power washer button would unlock the doors... go figure.
the brake wire that was tapped into only triggers a relay that engages the brake lights it should not engage the abs or anything with the brake system, also the brakes are engaged by depressing the brake which inturn goes directly into the brake booster pumping brake fluid through the abs controller and then out to the brakes at the wheels. Your mechanic is speaking out of his @$$.
1250 for auto trans. That dealer has truck now. There is a code for the ABS system. They are disconecting the remote start so they can diagnos the prob.

Please dont talk Sh*t about people you dont know. My mechanic only quickly looked over the truck. He felt that there was a selenoid that was engaging and therefore killing the battery and then the brakes released. The person who put the remote start in thought they may (MAY) have taped a wire that back fed to the ABS system and fubard somthing. They did not have the scan tool to diag ABS stuff so the truck went to the dealer.

Any chance of getting similar wiring info for an '02 Tundra Access Cab? I just got a Prestige APS997 and having only one installer in town I would like to go to him with as much info as possible.
