Default Comment on the manual tranny parking brake

I like the old pull handle brake right by the shifter (as opposed to the auto, where its on the left floor). Been using for when I have to take off up a snow covered steep slope from a stop (like my driveway when moving around vechicles to plow). Parking brake on, start off in 1st (to point of engagement) release park brake. No rolling back, spinning out, and no wear on clutch. Couldnt do it with my old Ranger with left floor brake. Any momentum backwards spelled defeat, and use of 4wd everytime.

I can't believe Toyota is still hanging in there with that thing. I like it just for the nostalgia of it, although I hit my knee every time I get in my truck.

I'm 6'5" and I have never hit my knee doing so.

Well, your seat and knees are probably a lot farther back than mine are, since I'm 5'10". I hit it every time - it's just part of getting into the truck. My '88 was the same way.

It's a reminder to release parking brake before you step on the gas pedal.

Too often I bump my head entering the truck if I left the sunglasses holder down. It's also a reminder with a minor scratch.

I like it, and where its at too, just set it before reaching for the keys, never hit my knee but i have met the sunglasses holder, gotta put that up. Oh, the old cars e-brake was on the left, more in the way there, no?
