Any of you have the alarm system above installed on your Tacoma ??? It's the one in the "2006 Accessory Brochure"
I was told if you have it your in truck it will cut down on insurance rates
Anyone got any good or bad feed back?
If I would have been told that the 3200+ does not lock the doors when the truck is put in gear and unlock the doors when the key is turned off and that there was no "beep" when armed and disarmed, I would have not spent the $500.00 it cost and spent the money on an aftermarket alarm. This is the only complaint that I have with my new truck. IMO the 3200+ stinks!

I agree, the 3200 is missing some features. My old clifford alarm on my 4runner was excellent. I really miss the motion sensor, the auto door locks and a beep to let you it is armed

You know that this is programmable, right? You're correct about the no door lock/unlock when in/out of drive (which I agree s*cks), but if you have the alarm upgrade you can program it to honk the horn when you set/unset the alarm. Mine came with that feature enabled, but I disabled it (the horn is loud, and I can hear the door actuator and/or look at the lights to see if it received my button press).
I think I got the procedure off this site somewhere - LMK if you can't find it and I'll see if I can dig it up.
The Toyota VIP RS3200 does not have programmable horn beep. If your alarm beeps on setting you have one of the dealer installed aftermarket alarms (which are probably better).

This has been gone over many times. Unfortunately the FACTORY (Not SE region with red button) 3200+ can not be programed to beep. I'll buy you a beer (make that a case) if you find out how to do it.

Ok, I guess that's where part of the confusion comes in. I'm in the "Gulf States" region, and my alarm has the red button/flashing light. It is listed both on the window sticker and on the instruction manual as "Upgrade Security System". It sounds like you are saying that I probably have a regionally installed option as opposed to a "factory" option, which very well may be true. Sorry for the confusion.

If you are in Gulf States you probably have a Securikey+ system installed by the dealer or by the GST distributor - you can confirm this by looking at the 1st 3 digits of the FCC # on your fob.
Sorry I don't have anything to add on the actual alarm. But...
People still buy alarms?
I think it's funny, that with car alarms most people just find it annoying, and are like, "would someone turn that $hi+ off" when they hear them.
I don't think car alarms really DO anything that useful. I suppose it might deter the less than savvy thief. Then again they're not gonna be able to start a modern car with the key microchip - alarm or not. And if they want something in the car, an alarm going off after breaking the window won't stop them from getting the goods.
Just my $.02. I don't think alarms are worth a darn. Then again, I live in Arkansas and car theft is like super rare.

maybe thats were my ignorance plays a part ..... I would assume like all technology that it would only get better and better...perhaps that is not the case. I figure if it cuts my insurance down (I've heard yes & no) then why not? I plan to drive this vehicle a LOOONG time
The main reason I got an alarm is so I will know right a way that the truck was broken into. I don't think an alarm will stop someone who really wants to get into the truck but at least I can lock it back up.
