TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 2005 and later Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "DIY: How To: Fog Light Modification", within the Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
that is a great description! I appreciate the time and effort you have put into this mod. After I install my auto locking tail gate, this is next on my list. Keep up the good work.
If the button is left on, and the truck is left off, when the lights come back on a few hours later, do they have to be turned off, or do they go back off by themselves after a few minutes? I know if I do this mod, I'll forget to turn the fogs back off.
Thanks

If you do it the 3rd way (connect to ignition fuse), the fog lights will come on about 4 hrs after the ignition has been turned off. That's because the truck turns itself back on to check itself. Then it will shut itself back off in about 2 mins. It will do this with a 4 hr interval. So the answer to you question, no, you do not need to turn off your fogs everytime you leave your truck.
New member here... Love the mod, did one like it on my accord. My only question is this... I want to leave the foglight switch in the on position @ all times. I would like the foglights to come on only when i use the headlight switch, (parking lights, low beams, and high beams). Can someone let me know if this is an option?? Also looking to talk with people about suspension/tire/wheel mods.. Thank you....
Anyone know a good place to find the connectors used in part one? I checked my local advance auto and they didn't have what I was looking for, I guess I'll keep looking until I find them.
I did option 1 but instead of splicing the green and red/black wire together [step #10] I hooked the red/black wire (relay coil side) into its own 10 amp fuse that I added using a spare from the fuse block. So the fog lamp relay switch has its own 10 amp circuit.
Hey smtrd
Do you or anyone of you fog light mod professionals know if its possible to run a switch like the override clutch start switch as a fog light switch so you know when the fog lights are on by the orange LED.
Great Derictions by the way!
Thanks
Sounds like a cool mod. Can anyone confirm for me that the steps will be the same for my 07 taco. Noticed it was for 05-06. Thanks, I know its a noobie Q.

I have an '07 and yes, it does work for the '07s too.
Love the mod (did option #1), very detailed write-up. You mentioned a way to make the foglight switch only illuminate when the fogs are on. I like that idea more than using the headlight indicator. Would it be possible for you to add that to this thread?
