This is one of the mods I signed up here for - perfect. I would like a little insight as to how I can do one additional function, with the ability to still turn fogs on/off with one exception.
This is more of a two part question or more, but here it goes:

When I turn on my High beams, I want the Fogs to come on regardless of the fog switch. But when in low beam mode, or headlights off, I can turn on or off the Foggers.

So got this mod working, but now I want to override the switch to ON when I go to high beams, just not sure whether I should concentrate on the relay to do this or the switch wiring to do this.. Just looking for another set of brain cells to help move me along.

Once I figure this out, then I will add the High AND low beam mod.

My drive for all this is mega brights on high. Rabbit hunting and dark lonely highways. These lights are so nice, I might as well use them all lol.

The only thing I can come up with is a series of relay and wires - what a mess, wish I knew more about what I am trying to do...

Then I think of something else and add it to the mix. I want to fogs to turn off with the door open, after key is out, meaning I need to use the headlight relay power source, then I will be able to turn them back on with out the key being in the ign. I am thinking it might not be possible unless I turn on the headlights, turn on the fogs, then turn off the headlights again.. I am going to make a mockery of the factory wiring if I keep trying things..

So what is it you ask? Well, I've had quite a few emails wondering if there's any way to make the fog like switch illuminate ONLY when the fog lights are actually on... Yes theres a way, but I have something 100x better... Ever notice the "GREEN LIGHT" that illuminates when your headlights are on located on the lower left hand corner of your gauge bezel? Well once I figure out the best way to explain the modification, I'll have a write up explaining how to make that dash light come on ONLY when the FOG LIGHTS are on, rather than the headlights... This additional mod will be superior for those of you that have completed the "2005-06 Fog Light Modification."

I'm not sure if this has been addressed yet but I found out how to make the headlight indicator the fog light indicator and it's fairly simple. All you have to do is remove one diode and splice two wires together. The toughest part is disassembling the gauges and getting to the wires under the fuse panel in the engine compartment. I'll post a how to later this evening when I have a little more time if it hasn't been done yet.

I did this mod about a month back, I had been trying to figure it out since i got the truck last December. I did it a little different, My 07's fuse box had a free constant power that i wired to. Thanks to SMTRDSPORT for his write up that is awesome. I would have never figured it out alone.

hi guys, i need to ask, if i do this mod, will the fogs turn off when i have my highbeams on? i ask this to see if there is any other part to this like openeing up the steering wheel cover and tap some more wires together on the headlight stalk harness.
i did this mod on my 07 4runner sport , Toyota 4Runner Independent use of Fog Light Mod
did the fuse box thing and then steering wheel stalk switch thing also, and they all stay on. meaning when i leave the fogs on, it wont turn off when i high beam

The fogs will stay on when the fog light switch is turned on and the ignition is in the ON position. Headlights will no longer impact it as it will become a completely separate control. When you turn your truck off, the fogs turn off too.

I used the method of connecting to the green wire without removing the fuse box (drilled a hole through the separating wall, fed the wire thru, and then filled with silicone to seal out the elements...didn't want any possible water to work its way through the hole around my wire). Works like a charm!

I am going to do this mod by grabbing power for the foglight relay from the parking lights. (IE. instead of connecting to the light green wire in the fuse panel, connect it to the green wire for the parking lights) This will perform the following functions:

Fog lights off when foglight or headlight switch is off.

Fog lights on when foglight switch is on and the following are true:
Parking lights on, or Low beams on, or High Beams on,

If foglights are on and you forget to turn them off when key is removed they will turn off with the parking lights.

Foglights will NOT come on after 5 hours like the original mod.

Better way IMHO.

FYI, they won't come on after 5 hours when using the light green wire either.
