Hey all, first post. Bought my first ever brand new truck yesterday. '06 Tacoma Prerunner TRD in Speedway Blue. I also have a Kawasaki Prairie 360 that I will (hopefully) be hauling in this truck. My question is this: is the tailgate strong enough to put ramps on and load the quad or should I get a trailer? The tailgate doesn't feel very "beefy", but it may be deceiving. Anyone else load ATV's in their trucks? Also, is it my imagination, or does the 6 disc changer not play any kind of blank cd's, MP3 or otherwise? This is a real bummer if it's true....
The ATV loading issue has been discussed. Search the Tacoma forum and you should get some good info. Basically if you are going to be loading it often i would reinforce the "inside" of the gate with some cross beams or even plywood my do the trick.
As for the 6-disc. All I have in mine right now are recorded CDs but I don't remember what format I recorded them in. I thought I remember reading the the players weren't MP3 capatible but can't remember. But I do know you can play recorded CDs. Congrats on the new truck!

Guess I'll have to go and try again, but I couldn't get the blasted thing to play any recordable media. Maybe I'll slow down the burn time and see if that works... Seems absurd to me that some factory stereos still don't play MP3's...

I have to agree..
I have to say, all the CDs in my truck are burned (I make copies of all my CDs cause I always scratch my originals ). I have about 30 of them all different types of media. They all work fine.
I'd get a trailer. Thats how I haul my Prairie 700. Loading that thing in the bed with ramps is SCARY. Your truck will handle the weight much better, too. Plus, you can use the trailer for all sorts of things, you'd be suprised. As for the CD player, Ionno, I'm still old school
I've loaded my yamaha Kodiak in my bed several times and haven't had a problem. The people who bent their tailgates if I remember right their ramps fell off and the atv fell onto the tailgate. I don't remember anyone saying they bent their tailgate by simply loading it into their truck. It seems like toyota is always a little behind in putting the fancy electronics in their cars. Such as the mp3 players, satellite radios, and the trip computers that show gas milage and stuff like that. Stuff that isn't important, but other car manufactures are putting in their cars.
