Installed a TRD cat back system - anyone have this problem?
I just put one on my 06 access cab. SOunds great but I have one problem. Has anyone experienced rubbing of the chrome exhaust on the leaf springs (I think that's what they are called)? It appears the hangers may have been welded in the wrong position (too high) on the muffler or since the mufffler is a lot smaller than stock it needs longer rubber grommets in the back. When I had the factory exhaust installed the two rubber grommets on the back side of the muffler hung straight down; now they are both bent in at an angle like this \ /. This has forced the chrome exhaust up against the tip of the rear leaf spring. I have a temp fix on it but I need to find a three longer grommets (including the one by the chrome) so it will hang correctly.
One other issue; I bought my exhaust from Carson Toyota in CA. They were great but I discovered the exhaust doesn't come with all the components to install it. No gasket, no torque values...nothing. The Carson guys e-mailed me the torque specs. Also, those nuts at the front are one-time use only. The instructions they sent along said to use new nuts. Toyota seems to be slipping a litttle here. For 00 - 04 TRD exhaust Toyota provided a complete kit to include installation instructions. I wouldn't think it would be too much to ask to include the necessary 25 bucks worth of parts to finish the job for a $400+ dollar component.

Sounds like you have the wrong part # maybe. I agree with you about the gasket and the bolts. I dont see why there a one time use only. It not a head gasket here.

Turned out the exhaust got slightly bent in shipping which cause the tip to bump up against the spring. I lucked out though. I started getting that sulfur smell the TSB talks about so the dealer fixed the exhaust for free when they installed the new converters
