Default 2005+ Brake Pads & Rotors (5-bolts) Aftermarket Parts

According to EBC catalog:

Slotted/dimpled rotors are now available.

Different high performance pads.

Interestingly, the pads (D906) are same as 2004+ Sienna's (front) even though Tacoma's rotors are smaller (10.8" vs. 11.7").

I got hold of a 2004 Sienna and found front pads are fully interchangable. The only difference is relief cut (Sienna is angled and Tacoma is vertical). Not sure of thickness since Sienna's almost worn out.

Just got a set of EBC Greenstuff pads.

D906 is available in three flavors: 2000 series for Camry/ES or 6000 series for Sienna/Tacoma and 7000 for heavy duty.

I chose 21674 in favor of better friction coefficient (.55 vs .45) and most of the time the truck has no load (closer to weight of a Camry).

Initial impression:

Only drove around the block. No noise yet. Much stiffer pedal fell. Small friction area

any update? does it brake better? the brakes on my tacoma blow! was thinking about installing over sized rotors but there's mighty expensive.

Less than 200 miles of easy driving so far. Still on break-in coating.
Some scratchy sound when braking. Stiffer feel and slightly better friction.
I'm sure if EBC made the friction surface as big as OEM then there's no need to upgrade to larger rotor (but OEM pad) brake system.

Now at 500+ miles. No more scratchy noise and wheels are getting dusty (never this dusty before) so I assume brake-in coating is worn.

There's some improvement in moderate to heavy braking. The truck dives more than before even with Bilsteins in four corners.

One interesting observation:

Rotors' friction surface is not as bright as before. Perhaps EBC is designed to work with slotted/cross drilled rotors?

I kinda feel like the EBCs are a little over rated. When you change your pads again try out some by Porterfield.

I had Porterfield before (brake shoes). Friction index is better than OEM organic but squeaking won't go away.

The brake dust is becoming annoying. Maybe I should have bought 6000 instead.

Since I have SS brake lines installed, I decided to revert to OEM pads. The pedal stiff is about the same or better than rubber hose/EBC pads. Less diving under heavy braking. The only difference is less brake force from medium to heavy braking.
