Default High-pitched whine from brake pedal?

(Posted in other Tacoma forums also. Just looking for help)

Okay non moded 2 month old 06 DC LB.

When I press the brake pedal there is a really high picthed whine that is coming from somewhere in the cab. This might be similar to the other post however I've narrowed it down to only when the brake lights are coming off and on. If I pulse the pedal the whining pulses with it. When I disconnected the blue harness brake light switch the whine is gone (but obviously the brake lights don't work either). I checked the fuse and third brake light bulbs for filament singing, (common in household dimmers when the filament in a bulb vibrates from different amp and current draw causing a high pitched whining sound or ringing) but that didn't do it.

This could be what other may be hearing unless your getting it regardless of the brake pedal being pushed. Happens with or without the key in the ignition.

Any ideas? Maybe a relay or loose connection?

I had the same problem with my 2007 tacoma. I took the truck to the dealer and after a lot of different people trying to hear the noise I finally was able to get someone who could hear it. (it was the manufacture rep). When they disconnected the break light the noise would go away. They determined that it was the towing switch that is hooked in with the breaklight. They replaced it and the noise is gone. Hope this helps

Electrical 'whine' is usually caused by a bad ground or short. You've somewhat isolated the problem in the brake light system. I good tech should be able to determine where exactly the problem exist by checking conclusive continuity within the system. Take it to the dealer of your choice, I see your truck is an 06' and unless your over 36K, you should still be covered until warranty.
