Finally found the time to post here as well. I'm Eric, from San Ramon, CA. I have an 05 DC, SB, 4wd TRD Offroad pkg. This is my second Toyota 4x4. I used to own an 85 and here I am, 20 years later, going back to my roots.
This is a great website. Lots of good info, and folks are far more polite than some of the other forums I've visited. Thanks for all the good info, especially access to the TSB's.
current mods:
snugtop XV
avs bug deflector
future mods:
centerline tomcats
or 20's TBD (enkei?)
new audio system + DVD and/or Nav

Hey guys and gals. I just picked up my Tacoma. It's a black DC LB Prerunner w/ the Sport package. I was looking for a 6-speed and/or 4x4 but there are none in the area. No biggy, I love the truck and rather enjoy getting out of my STI 6-speed into a nice comfortable truck w/ the auto trans. I'll be using it to pull landscaping equipment and the day to day grind. I looked at all the other trucks on the market, but damn the toyota's are the nicest out there. In the end, @ 24K it was a no brainer.

Hi! I'm the new guy. I have a 2001 Tacoma S-Runner in Radiant Red (my 2nd Tacoma). I was looking for an '05 X-Runner and came accross this 31,000 mile truck & jumped on it. After hearing about the problems with the X I am glad I bought my S. I have had it since March and am on my 3rd set of wheels, 1) stock 16" 2) 17" 5 spoke with graphite centers & 3) 18x9 Mustang Bullitt wheels with black centers and polished lips. I currently have 235/35/18 Yokohama AVS100's but they are too small so 265 or 275's are coming soon. I have lowered it 1" in ft with Eibach's and 2" in rear with steel blocks & added polyurethane bushings to the sway bars. Under the hood, I have added a TRD supercharger, flex-a-lite dual fan kit w/variable speed controller, Airraid intake tube with stock box & custom built cold air and K & N filter, 9 psi pully, water injection, 160 t-stat, Magnaflow muffler & Iridium plugs. I have the URD injector kit, TRD LSD & 3.90 gears waiting to go on next. On the outside I have added a power antenna, hidden Sirius antenna, Grillecraft grill, clear t/s & sides and red/clear rear lights. I am just getting started and having a ball driving it. Bone stock it ran 16.3 @ 83 mph with 2.2 60ft's, Last night (without the water injection & 9 lb. pully) it ran15.8 @ 91 mph with 2.5 60 ft's so obvoiusly traction is the next thing I need to tackle. Both times were ran at 106 deg + here in Phoenix!
hey guys, been reading for a while, but now its offcial... i am the proud owner of a 2005 Regular Cab Prerunner Tacoma! It was worth the long searching and negotiating, i finally have my baby!

Hi folks,
I have just purchased a tacoma double door long bed after driving a GMC sierra for ten years and 275,000 miles. i am absolutely shoked at the experiences i have had with this "new" truck. it has been in the shop 5 times now. From the start the truck drove poorly...vibrating on the highway at speeds between 60-80. steering poorly and jumping on uneven pavement and shaking like a leaf! They replaced the driveline which they said wasn't balanced. That helped. But the steering is sloppy and wobbles back and forth over any uneven surface, the truck pulls to the left (they rotated the tires and this seemed to help). The steering is horrible on washboards or any uneven surface...vibrating back and forth. Tires are very cheap...street tires with almost no tread. At speedsfrom 60-80 the whole truck vibrates. The passanger seat is a blurr with vibration. After a long drive to Nevada last week i was shaken to death! I think i shrunk 2 inches from the rattle! The long wheel base and light weight of the truck makes it "skip" and echo (repeat instead of solidly return) over every bump in the road. The ride is hidious.
I can't tell you upset i am. I buy a truck every ten years. I bought this "new" truck so not to worry about repairs and valuable time lost.
Anybody else had this kind of trouble with the long bed? Access cab? Are all toyotas this bad or did I get a lemon?
I am ready to ask Toyota for my money back and go buy a real truck.
Frustrated in MT.

Welcome to Tundra Solutions longwings and Tacoma4x4 Sorry to hear of your problems longwings, have you talked with your dealer about getting a replacement? In Texas we have a lemon law that if within first month or negotiated time.. if a dealer sells you a vehicle that is not up to standard (barring some verification) they are obligated to take it back. MT has something similar? Keep us updated. Hey Tacoma4x4 I am sure you have some nice 4x4 pics to post up FEEL FREE to take some time and browse through the various forums. Hi Everyone,
I'm a 'truck junkie' from Texas who until recently was Ford all the way. My '98 F150 had 210,000 miles on it and only routine maintenance the entire time. Replaced the A/C compressor and alternator around 150K and front-end bushings at 175K. Other than that, Mobil 1 every 10K.
Bought a new 05 Tacoma PreRunner Dbl Cab here in Dallas in July and absolutely love it! Borrowed and drove a friends Colorado for awhile when I sold my Ford. Loved the gas mileage, hated the truck. Liked the 'small truck' size and looked at a Tundra and decided to go with a Tacoma instead. The truck rides great, looks great, and with the exception of the payment is a joy to own. Just finished putting FatMat through the entire cab and what a difference! Got rid of all the wind noise and she's super quiet. Now looking at different stereo and sub solutions. Looking forward to doing some customizing!
This is a great forum and I've learned a lot already! Keep up the great work!
Welcome to Tundra Solutions scurless Welcome, its always nice to see more Texans sign up, which means more people to meet up with.
