Another new guy - just got my '05 Access Cab 6-speed 4x4 TRD Sport, white/graphite, picked it up 3 days ago. Already logged about 300 miles on it. Love every inch of it. The last Toyota I had was a '88 4Runner 4x4, and I've been through a ton of junk in between -- it feels good to get back in something that I know will take the abuse I'll hand it. This one will only get my street beating, though, strictly DD duty - I still have a clunker Jeep XJ for wheeling. The Tacoma may get to pull it on the trailer once in a while, though.
Longwings, sorry to hear about your luck - I think you got a lemon, bud. I've never heard of such troubles with a Toyota (or any big name japanese maker, for that matter) - mine drives like a dream, no shakes or wandering, no pulling -- and I have the Dunlops which I've heard are the worst draw when it comes to stock tires. The steering does get a bit light right around 100mph, but I think that's just because the truck is getting a bit floaty. At every other speed, it's a dream. I hope it works out for you in the end. I'd hate for you to walk away thinking GM makes a better truck than Toyota
*EDIT* Oh yeah - just in case anyone wants to see yet another bone-stock AC Tacoma TRD Sport, I put a few pics up here to show my friends.
Always lookin at the website and feeding off everybodies news. I bought a 2005 toyota tacoma when in Hawaii in November. I now live in Iowa. Got everything you could get with the exception of 4x4 and the installed subwoofer. Hawaii did not offer the subwoofer option. I will post pics tomorrow of the truck. It's the TRD off road double cab, black in color. So far I've done the following mods extang soft bed cover, tinted all windows, bug deflector, vent visors for all 4 side windows, and just as of yesterday american racing burst 16x8 chrome rims. Made it look like a whole new truck. Tomorrow I'll put pics of stock and than with the mods listed above. When I got my rims the shop said I could tighten the torsion bar on the front and use blocks on the back to raise it 2" for only like 80 dollars. Than put a lil bigger tires on it. Thank you all for the feedback on everything so far. Awesome sight for info.

It has the sport TRD pack and the side curtain airbags 17 inch wheels Bilstiens and tube steps. White with grey interior. 5 speed Auto. Limited slip and Tow Pack.
I was disapointed they don't offer a power seat or leather or a Nav system.
Any suggestions on a good in dash NAV?
The ARE bed cover is ordered.
It has 200 miles in 3 days and so far we love it. Very smooth and refined for a 4x4 truck, especially the trans. We also have an 88 Blazer and it seems like a beast now by comparison. I'll get the K&N airfilter this week and Mobil 1 at 500 miles. It does seem huge for a "compact" truck.
What HP/Torque do you get with the diesel? I wish Totota offered the diesel here in the states, maybe a more powerful diesel such as a Cummins in the Tundra? Hmmm. That would be the ultimate machine.

Apologies if you've all seen this before but if you want to see how far we can push a Hilux check out this link. They smash it, drop it in the ocean and put it on top of a 250 ft building for demolition, set fire to it and the rest. Does it still go.......

Hello everybody, I'm new here and really enjoy reading this forum and all the great information. I just purchased my new '06 Taco 4x4 Access Cab with the TRD Off-Road Package from Webb Toyota in Farmington New Mexico . This is my second Taco to own and I really love my ride. First things I added to my new Taco are a Manik brush gaurd with PIA lights, and a Sirius Starmate Replay satellite radio. We also have a '03 4Runner Sport Edition.
Hello All,
Glad to become a new member and partake in your discussions. Just took delivery of my 06 Tacoma. Couldn't afford 4 wheel drive so I opted for the Vehicle Stability Control system with Traction Control (limited slip). Very difficult for my dealer to locate one with VSC. Very happy so far. Great riding truck and I appear to be getting decent gas milage. For anyone who is interested, I purchased an aftermarket Gentek auto dimming mirror with outside temp and compass. Installed it last weekend in about 2 1/2 hours and it works great. Would be interested in knowing if the TPMS can be disabled with winter tires and rims. Some car makes can be temporarly disabled thru software but I don't know about Toyota. Regards, Bob
Welcome to both of you and congrats on the new trucks.

Hi, I am a long time lurker, first time poster. I am in the market for a truck, and fell in love with the Tacoma, (partially because of all of you) I plan on buying when my finances catch up to the cost of my desires.

Hey, I have been checking the sight out for a while but just joined today. I have a 2005 Tacoma 4WD. I think the Mickey Thompson pakage it has is a dealer option with a small lift, 16" MT wheels and 265 75 R16 MT tires. I got mine late in the year so they didn't have one with the off road pakage I wanted. I think they all got shipped to MS or LA after the hurricane. This does not have locking differentials of any sort. I like the detroit TrueTrac but they only have it for the rear. What is out there for the front and rear that doesn't void my warranty? It is dry around here for now, but I will need limited slip differentials soon. Thanks for the help.
