howdy I'm new here.
I own a 2000 Tacoma 5 speed, 4 cyl, 2.7L extend cab, 4x4 and I've loved my truck. I even have a tow package on her and she pulls my boat around just fine.
But, now at 85,000 miles its started it way to become a money pit. I'm here to learn more about ways to help in my search for maintainace tips.
I love this truck and don't have the $$$ to get a new one, but if the repairs are going to be to costly, I may just be forced too.

I'm a software engineer and lifelong car nut. I bought my first Toyota last June, a brand new lipstick red '07 Tacoma Access Cab V6 AWD with 6 speed manual, regular bed and towing package to tow my Factory Five Cobra replica to race tracks in the northeast US and eastern Canada.
So far I love it for towing, but it's awfully big for a daily driver (I'm used to sporty little compact cars like my late lamented '94 Probe GT) and gets 16-18 MPG, highway, not towing. People said the mileage would improve after 4000 miles but I'm over 7000 with no improvement so far.
Other than the mileage, and the size, it's a fine piece of machinery, comfortable on long trips and great for towing. Probably should have gotten an automatic, though.

I have been using my cars as though they were pickup trucks for years now; going back to the Taurus SHO. It looks likely I will be purchasing a 2008 Tacoma, 6cyl, access cab, Off road package (unless only sport on the lot). I WILL beat the crap out of this truck because that is what it is for. Firewood, chainsaws, Sand & Salt runs at Public Works, and a blade to plow my driveway. I test drove a manual & waiting for the 6 speed to arrive. I would love to hear what anyones experience has been between the two or anything I should know before purchase. Thanks

Hello i am the proud new owner of a 2008 black tacoma doublecab 4x4 trd off road. I love the truck so far and look forward to many years of great use out of it. I decided to go with the toyota this time after being constantly let down by trucks built by the big three. As soon as they got close to a 100,000 miles they fell apart. I am expecting great things from toyotas rep. On the day i bought mine there was a gentleman who brought in his mid 80's toyota 4x4 with the original engine and tranny that had finally given up with 850,000 miles on ithttp://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif

Hello all,
I purchased a 2005 Tacoma Prerunner TRD about two weeks ago, and already used this site to ascertain the severity of damage caused by my home repair job, draining the stupid transmission fluid in an attempt to change my oil. Thanks. Jason

What's up ya'll? I just joined after being a member on another forum. I liked what I saw, so here I am. I drive an 07 Tacoma DC in Silver Streak Mica. I have done a few mods, nothing big at all. K&N filter, tube steps, Weathertech liners in the front, TRD seat covers, rear leaf TSB, iPod integrator, tinted windows. Well, I am off to check out the threads. I'll be talking to some of you soon....

I just bought my first Toyota and it was a 2008 Tacoma Double Cab V6 4x4 with the TRD Sports Package #1, Tow pkg, and side steps, all in Black. I made the move from my Honda Element so I could tow a camping trailer so I'll be here looking for towing information. The only thing I don't like about the Tacoma...mine didn't come with steering wheel controls or XM. I know I can add the XM but what about the steering wheel controls?

Bought a 2005 Tacoma PreRunner Access Cab about 6 months ago. Been about 25 years since I owned a Toyota and now I remember why I liked the old 75 Corolla I had in college. That car wouldn't quit.
Traded off a Ford (Sorry guys, I know.....sometimes we do dumb things and it takes a while to come back to our senses).
Found my new 'baby' as a used vehicle. Speedway Blue, 30,000 miles, and it had everything I wanted.
Drives like the sports car it thinks it is! A really sweet ride.
THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT MY DAD'S TOYOTA!
I'll have to watch it, or I'll get a speeding ticket.

Hi, I'm Don from Huntington Beach, CA. I picked up my Silver '08 Access Cab, 2wd, Auto, and TRD Sport package last weekend. It's a great little truck so far. First tank of gas I got 17 mpg, but I look for that to improve slightly as I get a few miles on the truck.
I found this forum last night and I've already got some good ideas. Like, blacking out the headlights, and installing a Grillcraft grill.

Hello. Great site you have here. I have a 2008 extended cab Tacoma and have already learned from here how to eliminate the seat belt buzzer. Keep up the good posts.
