just got a new Tacoma, 2008, v6, off road with OC package.
Need some help regarding potential accessories. I need to install my HAM and CB radio, but there are warnings about that in the manual.
Also, wondering about whether I can upgrade my drive package with the stability control feature.
I also want to install a winch, but worried about how to do it.

New to the site and wanted to check in. Had the rear spring TSB done and highly recommend it--the ride is much improved. FYI for those in Yuma, AZ area: Good luck getting service or warranty work done at Alexander Toyota as they constantly reach new levels of screwing the customer -even by dealership standards. Great site, thanks for the info!

Hello, my name is Drew and I currently own a 2008 TRD 4x4 Double cab long bed in Pearl Black. I had a 2007 that was stolen from my driveway, but all is well that ends well.

I used to be a regular at TN, and I had seen this forum before but never spent to much time here. I decided to take a closer look and I have found the people and the posts a little more my style.

Great to meet everyone!

Hi All,
New member saying hello from Alberta, canada where a 4x4 can really come in handy sometimes...LOL
I'm in the market for a new pickup and really interested in either a Tacoma or Tundra, just have to get more info from people who actually drive these things instead of relying on reviews written by someone who might have spent an hour or so in one. So far i'm finding your forum very interesting and informative and will keep on reading and learning more about these trucks. I've been leaning towards Toyotas for some time now as i really had enough of Ford gas-guzzlers and GM's unreliability from what i've been experiencing with our work fleet so time to try something different.
Take Care, Ride Safe

Hello everyone, just introducing myself here.
Just purchased a new to me 06 Tacoma DC and have several modifications I need done and I found this place has the most information, so I dropped the small paypal amount to become a subscriber and now just to read the years worth of information.

I reside in Dallas, Oregon, I'm 31 and married with a new (to me) truck just waiting for its first scratch. It is time to retire my S10 ZR2 workhorse and make another loan payment. I have been searching for the right truck for many many months and I got 6 out of 7 wants and bought it. (#7 was black paint)

Anyways, this is my first post - WhooooHooooo.

and the truck is here:

-Tyler

Question Re: Welcome to TundraSolutions.com! - New Members/Tacoma Owners Introduce Yourself He

^ Nice truck Tyler

Hi all, not even a newbie. unfortunately my Garage is empty at the moment but that should change soon. I just turned 25 and decide I need a truck, I'm into motorcycles and hope to do some road racing. As you can see I have a spot reserved in my Garage for a
2005-2008 Tacoma access cab, 2.7L, 4 Cyl, 2 wheel drive, 6 Speed manual with a full 6' box to park the bike in.

I guess you could call me a tree hugger or just plan cheep but the 3.5L V6 I'm driving now on $1.20/Liter gas is not what I call fun. After all I'm going to have a motorcycle in the back and by the time I get my truck, Gas is probable going to hit $1.50\Liter.

I guess I'm here because I have some technical questions and didn’t like the Idea of talking to some dealership mechanic who despises working on these Trucks LOL.

TECHNICAL QUESTION?

no need to read on If you didn't cache the discrepancy in my vehicle description.

2.7L, 4 Cyl, 2 wheel drive, 6 Speed manual

I remember reading a review of the 2.7L commenting on a lack of high speed versatility 4th and 5th gear (highway acceleration) with the stock 5 speed. The tester keen for Toyota to offer the six speed manual to replace the 5 speed in the small truck.

I’m going to start a new tread titled
2 WD wheel Drive 6 Speed Manual
so I can go into more depth and not clog up this welcome thread

and thanks to all the members of TundraSolutions.com.

Default Re: Welcome to TundraSolutions.com! - New Members/Owners Please Post Here

I am not sure how to post an introduction to myself---hoping this is the correct way to accomplish that. I am retired now---formerly a service rep. for mining machinery and related products. My experience has been primarily in Coal mines but in the more distant past I have also experience in potash, Uranium, Silver and Gold---all underground operations. I recently purchased a used '06 Tacoma with the big Six and 6 speed manual transmission. It seems to be in very nice shape and has 30K miles showing. I had absolutely no problem with it for the first couple of months but immediately noticed after the first heavy snowfall here that it has a very weak pressure plate or perhaps a badly worn clutch plate. I became aware of this the first time I tried to pull my home made v-shaped plow. This plow is simply a length of channel iron bent to a v-shape. It weighs only a couple hundred pounds and my old Maza 3000 pickup (similar to a Ford Ranger) used to pull it quite easily. The Tacoma has plenty of engine power but immediately started to burn the clutch as I started to pull the plow. The smell of a burning clutch is easily recognised. I bought the truck from a local used vehicle dealer who tells me that the truck might be covered under warranty by Toyota. I have not had an opportunity to take the truck to the nearest Toyota dealer at this writing. I am interested however in getting some feedback from Tacoma owners---primarily what I would like to know is whether anyone has had similar experience and whether this might be an 'adjustment' problem or whether there is some history of 'weak' components which I would like to know about prior to hearing the Dealer explanation of warranty. I would appreciate any comment or advise from members of this forum. At this point----my first attempt to post----I am not certain that I can find any replies posted here so I would very much appreciate being copied with comments at my email address----which is lynnandnancy@emerytelcom.net thank you very much. Lynn
PS----I will now take time to read and learn from the many posts and threads here on this forum-------and I will say also that I tried a search of weak clutch and really didn't find anything that sounded like the problem I have described above. I do believe my clutch is a little grabby at times but I have not hoticed any chattering or rough shifting in the normal course fo driving where I am not trying to pull anything.
