I just got my 2005 Tacoma (last night) after about 6 months of shopping for a new vehicle. (My 1992 Subaru is running good but I got tired waiting for her to just die, already!)
Anyway, it's an Access Cab with the TRD Off-Road Package. I look forward to talking about out Tacoma's with y'all in the future.
My only upgrades planned, thus far, are just something to cover the bed (I like those flat ones that lay right over it), step rails (I like the tube kind), and a bug deflector for the front. Also, maybe a moon-roof in the future.

Dude, you got the SAME truck as mine except yours is black and mine is silver!
I've only had mine a day and haven't found any flaws, yet, but heard on some other sites of various defects in the cab with the paint coming off the cup holder and flawed swirls on the glovebox. (I haven't checked mine for these.)
Have you noticed any flaws or defects on your Tacoma?
Hello, my name is Kris Osheim. My step daughter has a 1996 Tacoma and I've been thinking about tinkering with it and wanted to get some more information on it. I personally own a 1991 MR2 turbo and have built a business up making performance parts for it. It seems that in the searching I've done on the Tacoma with the 3RZFE engine, you're really limited in your performance choices. Anyway, that's why I'm here.

I work Internet Sales in a Tampa Bay dealership. Was perfectly happy with my Matrix until the 05 Tacoma Ride-n-Drive for Toyota sales staff in Lakeland. That was an eye-opener. Now I'm just waiting until I'm not terribly upside down on the 'Trix to get an AccessCab TRD Sport package 4, preferrably in Speedway Blue. Of course, by that time us dealers should have won the argument with Japan and the 4.7L ought to be an option....
I originally stumbled across this forum looking for an answer to a customer question, and found it right-off. I've referred to it a couple more times since, and decided to join. I'll be happy to help any who need it, especially explaining differences between South East Toyota options and those for the rest of the country.

Nope, it's been rock solid. Only thing I would change is I wish I would have got the heated mirrors.
Your experience here will be most welcome. Its always nice to have the dealer point of view for some members here, so that you can hear their part of the owning experience and vice versa. I got an 05 Tacoma extended cab 4x4 in December, and I just love it. I got a set of Weld Evo Cheyenne 6 wheels with 265/70-17 BFG AT KO tires, and that truck rocks!
How's the weather in AZ..., I might go visit some family that used to live in Surprise, but have since moved, hence why I have to visit again. I guess you can find out just about everything and anything on this site! I discovered I got taken by my Toyota dealer when I paid them $170 to install my DeeZee Tube Steps and, on this site, discovered it's a 40-minutes EASY job! (Pre-drilled holes.)
Luckily I am having mine put in for free. The deal threw it in when I bought the truck because I said I would not take it without it and they finally after a hour of going back and forth decided to give it to me.
