Please don't mind my future questions about Toyota's since this is the first I have owned. All my previous vehicles for the last 24 years were GM's, I and decided it was time for a better vehicle.
I just purchased a 2005 Tacoma Access cab SR5, 2.7L 5 spd, 4x4 with Impluse Red color. Man I love this vehicle! The gas mileage is good, the ride is excellent, I could just continue, but I am really impressed with this truck.
I just want to take a second and thank everybody in advance for their help in the future.

It took a while, but Toyota finally came through and actually delivered my new truck (2005 Indigo Ink Blue, Double Cab Long Bed TRD Sport 5 Spd Auto) and the title. Why does it take so long for trucks to get delivered? My truck apparently was on the road from 2/22 until 3/9. Ridiculous? Yes, I'd say. And to boot, the title took another 2 days to show up. argh! At least I finally have the truck and after about 20 miles, love it. These sports seats sure are nice.
I test drove the 6 spd std, but after driving VWs for 10 years, it felt like crap and I decided the long bed double cab was more important than a 6 spd, so I went with the 5 speed auto. One review of the truck I read said it felt like the 6 spd std felt like it was from a sports car. What the heck were they driving before? a sporty 18 wheeler? it was really annoying that the rpms stayed up for a second or so after putting in the clutch, basically making it impossible to shift in a timely manner. It is a truck afterall I guess. the 5 spd auto does feel nice though.
Hello all. Ordered a new Taco last month and I'm currently in the hurry up and wait mode. Had a 99 Chevy Silverado which had been quite reliable even at 132,000 miles but it's definately not a Toyota. Looked at Tundras but the 60 mile round trip to work every day prompted me to go for the gas mileage of the V6 over the V8. This looks to be a nice forum, no flame wars or porn links. I can't help but wonder if I'm the only person here who has a grill guard, tonneau cover and other goodies but still no truck. LOL.
Lots of guys here have plenty of parts but not on their truck. I will give you that you have the parts and no truck though. We pride ourselves here on being civil and courteous here. Definitely a good choice on going better mpg V6 . Thanks for the welcome John!! Will take some pictures of the truck if I ever get it. I've threatened to hold the dealer's popcorn machine hostage if they don't hurry up.
This is Rob from Bowling Green, OH. Joined to read and get info on toyota trucks. I have ordered a 2005 Black Sand Pearl XRunner that should arrive in the beginning of April.

I just got a 2005 TRD 4X4 quad cab tacoma this week. I love this truck. I'm suprised as to how smooth the TRD suspension is on the freeway. The interior ergonomics and material quality is by far the best I've seen in a truck. I love everything about this truck except for one thing. The motor makes a ticking, soft knocking type sound when I accelerate above 2000 rpm. I've been running 92 octane gas with no change. I'm hoping that it's not a major problem.
Welcome to Tundra Solutions Kika Not much you can do about the pinging, most of the Trucks do some of it. If you want to read a little more about it here is one thread. V6 Ping search for more if it interests you. Remember though your vehicle will run just as good on 87 octane as 92, but to each his/her own. I test drove a X-Runner the other day and man those Tacomas will put you back into your seat. I also looked at the Double Cab Tacomas, and whew...they make my 2002 Tundra feel a little competition. I have been browsing the TS Forums for a few weeks now and have found it to be the best single resource for Toyota owners on the web. I also took delivery April 1st on a 05 Tacoma 4x4 double cab, TDR Off Road pkg in Black sand pearl. I traded in a 2001 4 Runner and am confident the Tacomas quality and reliability will match, time will tell. I only have 70 miles on it but am impressed with the improvements they have made.
Rob from SE Michigan, purchased a 2005 DC PreRunner about 2 weeks ago. Hoping to see more MI Members with a 2005 Tacoma, I have only seen 1 other truck around.
