Thumbs up Hover's Mod-Of-The-Month

Hey Gang!

Be sure to ask Hover about the FREE mod that you can do with an '00-'02 Tundra that activates your security key to locate it in a parking lot like it is suppose to.

Uh, Mike explain it.

Dan

BTW....I would like to have the specs of Mike doing this with a photo to have it submitted as a true nomination into the Garage Forum for the May's Mod-Of-The-Month.

Thumbs up THANKS!

Hey Mike, my Dad just showed me how to get my key to work right.....FINALLY!

I agree this is a "must have" mod that needs to be submitted for the Mod-Of-The-Month.

It is far too technical to even to begin to explain, so please post a picture and share with all on TS.

Thanks!

Whoops, didn't see this thread last night...

I'll try to make this painfully simple... This will work for any model car alarm that you have on your truck (or any other car for that matter). A simple way to extend the range of your remote is to hold it under your chin and in front of your adam's apple when you hit the buttons. Yes, it really works....try it!

When someone first told me about this a few years ago, I was like YEAH RIGHT! But alas, I tried it.... I first held the transmitter out in front of me and tried to turn off the alarm while I was quite a distance away...no go...so i brought it under my chin (about an arms link farther away from the car no less) and click BEEP BEEP.

My only theory is that the signal gets amplified by my neck or something there... ? Anybody have any technical insights to this?

height off the ground may be providing better LOS to your truck, also the polarization of the antennae may contribute. try the same thing, but instead of holding it under your chin, hold it up as high as you can over your head, then try it down by your feet. try it holding the remote straight up & down, then horizontal pointing at the truck, then horizontal pointing 90 degrees away from the truck...one of these will give you the best radio connectivity depending on how the manufacturer designed the remote.

oh darn, I thought it was something new.

It does really work and I have used it at times.

You can increase your distance easily by 5 times or so.

It does not have the same effect by holding the remote high in the air, it will simply amaze you how far the remote reaches under your chin compared to just holding it.

Also, if you are in the house/work, put your remote up to the window frame and it should work as well. People look at you funny when you put the remote under your chin but it does work!

Joe I sure wished we would have taken a picture of Mike and Danny doing this at the Pappadeaux's parking lot.

I do not think they caught the other people in cars driving by looking at them doing that. And they were at it a long time.

I too think a picture is in order to fully understand the 'correct' way Mike showed us for this mod.

Nah...this baby is YOURS! You have to do the honors.

Sure would have been kinda nice if Joe and Kat would have pointed that out about people looking at us doing this at the Pappadeaux's parking lot. Thank God it was dark outside!

My aunt taught me this trick a few years back. Only she usually stands on the tips of her toes, sticks her free hand up in the air, and waves it frantically like she is trying to flag down a cab or some such. I have often wondered is this doesn't increase your chances of contracting brain cancer ...

I do this all the time and it has no effect on my brain.

Hey have any of you guys ever tried the thing where you hold the transmitter under your chin?
