Exclamation Hurricane Rita

Wicked weather may be knocking at our doors here in the Texas Gulf Coast area.

I most likely will be down and out due to power outages. It only took over 3 weeks when Hurricane Alicia visited us to get our electric back.

So, a call out to those that may be harms way...

Stay safe and report in when you can.

Default My wife likes ritas'. I hate em'!!!

My brother, wife (damnit! ) and I are going to wait it out here in Humble. We're out of storm surge danger, so we'll just have wind and street flooding to contend with.

We're about 50 miles inland, from Galveston, so we're going to cross our fingers and pray it goes somewhere else.

If any TSers out there in the low-lying areas around Galveston, all the way up to the San Jacinoto river basin need cover, PM me and I'll happily donate some refuge.

Take care, everyone.

BTW, my inside weather forecast to come!!!!!

Maybe a tad east of that.
New Orleans will be finished off if she makes this turn.

I guess the weather gods don't like Mardis Gras. First NOLA and now Galveston. Something to think about.

I'm in cypress tx the northwestern most part of houston. I think we are suppose to get 50-70 mph winds and rain. I hope Rita keeps shifting east!

Default Ridin' It Out In Houston Texas

Well she hasn't hit yet and we already have a big mess on all exit routes in Houston Texas.

The evacuation routes on I-45 are completely gridlocked as far back into Louisiana, they are trying to get fuel trucks to stranded motorist and water to those that are tangled in this mess on these evacuation routes. The local news channels have already reported a few deaths, due to the heat index reaching over 100 degree yesterday.

It has been announced NOT to even try to take any of the designated evacuation routes due to the congestion on the highways. Most likely many of these motorist will have to weather the hurricane out in their vehicles.

We do have friends that have taken evacuation and due to the high volume of cell usage it is just about impossible to get through.

We are expecting to get hit with wind gust later today, as of the time of the posting no one really knows where Hurricane Rita's destination will get the full punch or what we may have to deal with in our Gulf Coast Areas. Hopefully we may get the lighter side of Hurricane Rita.

We have made all the preparations we can to ride it out and in hopes that the Sunday morning headlines will read "We Made It".

We hope to see postings from our Texans that are on TS.com and that all is well.

Until then....

Take care and be safe!
Dan & Kat

Things could change but my post on 09-21-05 looks like it is spot on long before the weather service had a clue...

We're out here in Humble (Atascocita) and we're sittin' pretty, so far. Still have electricity and running water (and cable/computer service).

I spent 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM helping neighbors get set up and buttoning down my own stuff.

Just got up from a nice little nap and I'm getting ready to stay up all night.

My neighborhood is pretty much empty, only a few families stayed on my street, so we're all up looking out for one another and our things.

We have plenty of food, water, liquor and ammo, so we should be fine, come what may.

Will update again in the AM.
