Thanks everyone for such a great turnout and wonderful Saturday for our Papadeaux's Houston Lunch Meet!
Kathy and I enjoyed meeting our newcomers for the first time, and putting faces with their TS Member ID's. We wish we could have stayed longer in the parking lot, but I think a few would have melted if they had stayed much longer.
Thanks to our newcomers that attended one of our Texas Tundras Meet:
changsteven (Steven) & Fiancee
General Sherman (David) & Wife w/ Son & Guest
RB's Tundra (Randy) & Wife
Superman (Wade) & Jennifer
And to the familiar faces:
Buzzard (Don)& Higgie
iforce=horses (Floyd) & Kim w/ 2 Sons
malekoman (Mark) & Wendi
TundraCHILD (Cleve)
CABOTUNDRA (Paul)
We had a variety of rides to look at, 8 Tundras, 1 Sequoia and 1 Tacoma. I think if anyone waxed their ride prior to this meet, it got a baked on.
Gang once again, malekoman's wife, Wendi won the prize drawing of the Zaino Products. I think we may want to consider the Texas Tundras heading out to Vegas and let Wendi play some blackjack for us.
Kathy took some pics and we will be getting them back shortly, so stay tuned.....
WOOHOO...was it HOT! Man, do we have some stories about this meet, but I'll let those be posted by the victims.
But did we let the heat stop a BS session in the parking lot....
NOWAY!
We hope we will be seeing everyone at Buzzard's Catfish Fry on Saturday, August 3rd. We plan on having lots of laughes, good food and of course BSing.
Once again, thanks to all that attended the Papadeaux's Houston Lunch Meet!
Dan
Now it's time for me to kick back, enjoy the a/c and catch a nap...
Yeah, it was a great time. Lunch was great and the board members we met for the first time - which was everyone - were terrific. Great group of people with great lookin' rigs (except for that little guy who barged in uninvited at the end...).
Thanks to everyone who coordinated it and to the meet attendees for allowing a Sequoia to crash a Tundra party. Hopefully there'll soon be a meet when the heat won't limit the BS session. Let's see, how many more months 'til January??
I wanted to post that it was really great to see everyone again and welcome our new Texas Tundra Members. All of us hope that you will be active with our future meets and events that are planned here on TS.com
I hope I was able to catch a few good pics with my camera to show off the Sequoia, Tacoma and Tundras.
To our SA Gang, all of you were missed at the meet.
I will say this, as many meets that I have been to, this was the hottest one yet!
I was even for a cool breeze!
We hope to see all of you at Buzzard's Catfish Fry!
Kathy (Mrs Possum)
Hey guys just made it home. It was good to meet all the new folks and I hope that it is not there last.
Ok, as being one of the victims--- I will fill everyone in.
The meet was going good until after lunch when we went to the parking lot. Then there was a tragic site-- Paul had a flat on his Tundra. Luckly he got that fixed and was good to go. Then as everyone was saying goodbye, we had our uninvited guest. I'm still having flashbacks of this old man driving his car across the front of my wonderful truck. Not to mention that my wife and kids were in the truck at the time. But, of course the Tundra was not harmed. The guy's front fender was a different story, which it turned out to be a rental car anyways. The most important thing is that the family was not harmed!
All and all I had a good time and hope to see everyone again.
Sorry I missed all of you yesterday at the meet, but I got called in and had to stay at the hosptial until after 4pm. I even had my Tundra cleaned up anticipating that I would be at this meet.
My work schedule does not look too bright anytime soon, until upper management will give me the okay to hire some additional techs for my department.
I am beginning to feel like I do not have a personal life with this new position, but I know in due time, as the economy gets back on track I will once again have some free time.
I really should not complain whatsoever, as there are many without jobs due to companies cutting back their workforces.
Sorry to hear about the strange incidence with Floyd and Paul, but as stated most important was that no one was injured. Overall, it sounds like the meet went really well with the exception of the heat. I think we are in for some high tempatures within the next few months. I hope the Texas Coastline once again gets bypast by any major tropical storms or hurricanes this year.
Mom said she took several pictures and that we had some really nice new Texas Tundra Members that have joined our club, I will be looking forward to meeting all of you. I have been enjoying all the great new photos that Sally and Dad had posted on the LSB.
I will pop in on TS to let all of you know if my workload will allow me the time off to make Buzzard's Catfish Fry, that sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun.
Once again, I missed seeing all of you and hopefully things at work will not demand so much of my time that I will be able to attend a meet soon.
Steven, you missed the incident by mere moments. Just minutes after you drove off, a man (80 if he was a day) came out of nowhere and drove between the group of guys standing in front of Floyd's truck and Floyd's truck and clipped Floyd's bumper with the right front fender of his rental car. He couldn't have been going more than 1 MPH and it really all happened in slow motion. We all had plenty of time to anticipate what was likely to happen. I heard someone say, "Does he see the truck??" about a second before we saw and heard the hit. The guy waves at us and I thought he was going to keep driving but he finally stopped a car length or two away and started to get out with the car in reverse. For a sec I thought he was going to add insult to injury and back into the truck. But he managed to get his leg back in the car, find the brake and put the thing in park in time. Bent the car's fender up pretty good but, fortunately Floyd's family was okay and the truck shrugged it off pretty good. It was pretty sickening for a bit, though.
As he was leaving, the guy goes, "I hope they don't see the damage at the rental company". Unfortunately for him, they'd have to be blind not to. Hope he took out insurance...
Buzzard, would love to provide you with that information but, unfortunately, I don't have PM access. (I've GOT to get a Club membership... Tried to send you an email but was told you don't do business that way.
