This is a discussion thread titled "Chrome Wheel Exchange LA Wheel", within the Texas forum, part of the News and Events category.
I just wanted to make my fellow Tundra Solution members of a company named LA Wheel out of California which has a very impressive website and presentation about their ability to chrome OEM wheels of just about any vehicle. I made the mistake of buying from this outfit in November 2005. The company takes your credit card number and charges you for a set of chrome wheels and ships them to you to exchange for your OEM wheels. After the wheels were shipped to me the chrome finish lasted only until January 2006. The chrome finish on all four wheels is becoming pitted and the finish is actually turning colors and fading out on all four wheels. I called them nonstop since March 7, 2006 and got every excuse in the book about why the company could not immediately remedy the problem from a lack of inventory to the owner being out of town and most recently the owner being on alot of pain medication after breaking his foot. They even tried to suggest that I had run the wheels in snow and/or salt causing the finish to fail. Today, one of the "owners" a guy named Ian told me that another of the owners "Anton" said to go ahead and send the wheels back at my expense and to basically put the truck on blocks for as long a four weeks until they could send them back. When I asked if they could send me a new set and I would then return the existing set, they said that they didn't have a set in stock right now. So sure, they send you a set to exchange with your OEM wheels when they are trying to peddle their cheap product but, wont do the same on the warranty side. When you call their company they have a phone message that raves about how customer satisfaction is the cornerstone of their company. I guess that stone isn't much more than a pebble. So beware. I am considering not even sending the wheels back at all and just having them chromed again locally like I should have done from the start.
Thanks for the warning. About 4 months ago I was thinking about buying a set of those wheels from them. They advertise a lot on e-Bay. I am now thinking about getting the factory OEM wheels polished. I found a guy that works out of his truck and charges $15-20 per wheel.

I've been looking at these as well. What was their feedback rating?? I can't seem to find that specific company on ebay.....some of the other companys on there have great feedback ratings about their wheels, just wondering if they're all the same......geez, that's lousy.
OOOPS........never mind, i just found them............

Hi guys. My name is Anton, and I'm the owner of L.A. Wheel and Tire. I just came across this post on the internet.
First of all, let me assure you that we try as much as we can to take care of our customers. Also...there is always two sides to every story. I'm not going to get into details, but we did try to remedy this issue, but we do not provide loaners for wheels that need warranty inspection. We sell LOTS of wheels, so sooner or later a defect is bound to surface, even though it's very rare.
Never the less, if wheels are shipped to us, and they are indeed not chrome plated properly, we always take care of it.
Smells like crap in here. Just fork up the cash and get a name brand Rim on your truck. As in most things in life you get what you pay for. So beware. Not too many people are going to put a truck on blocks for weeks, take care of your custumers or they will spray u in here. Im sure you've lost a few already.

anton, im glad u posted here. i was going to say i have heard positive things about your company before and before now i would not have thought twice about using your company. BUT, to expect a customer pay shipping on something as expensive to ship as a set of wheels for warranty work is pretty poor service. thats like toyota saying oh we see your check engine light is on, and you have a bad wizzitwazzit. please pay to have your old wizzitwazzit shipped back to us and if we see its a faulty part we will send you a new one. in the meantime we know u spent money on your truck and are w/o the vehicle for the time being but please just park it and we'll get back to you when we get off our heavy pain medication.
no, a company who sells an inferior/defective product should offer to send out a replacement set of wheels (charging a core charge until the others are returned, that seems fair) AT THE COMPANY'S shipping cost. or make some other sort of accomidations. its not like its just a small easy to remove drop in the mail part. hes going to have to get the rims/tires unmounted and send the rims and then have them remounted and rebalanced and all that costs money and to expect to pay even more for shipping on something you screwed up? uh no. and i do hope this shows up on more search engines etc.
LA wheels L.A. Wheels LAWHEELS poor customer service sucks unfair
there hoepfully that will show up in a search engine.
. They even tried to suggest that I had run the wheels in snow and/or salt causing the finish to fail. .
hahha. is this company aware we have as much snow in texas as they have in cali?
oh and lets hope, just hope, that since this thread was so easy for the owner to stumble upon, then hopefully the word of mouth er, via internet is going to spread to prevent more people from being screwed and not screwed in a good way.
I just wanted to say that I have used LA wheel in the past with my dodge and the results were great. I traded the OEM stock for chrome and I was very happy! This is just my personal experience.
By the way, I am in the Texas forum cause I just moved to Fort Worth from Long Beach. It's been a great place so far.
