Re: Michelin LTX M/S or Bridgestone Dueler Revo's?
LTX's on my Tundra. Somewhere around 110K miles on them and the tread's starting to make me think about replacing them. No complaints about traction in wet or dry, only problem area is offroad, they don't grip too well in a wet hayfield.
Re: Michelin LTX M/S or Bridgestone Dueler Revo's?
Tried the Revos on my wifes Montero first. Was truly impressed. Traction was great on dry or wet/ snow covered roads. Got about 45k out of them. Tried them on my '03 Tundra, loved them but only got 35k out of them. Never had the Michelins. I just replaced the tires on my '06 DC with the Yokohama Geolander AT-S. Love the look and the price. Time will tell if they hold up.
Re: Michelin LTX M/S or Bridgestone Dueler Revo's?
I put Yoko Geolanders on my truck based on recommendation of 2 different tire shops. They said "excellent wet/snow traction". They were both wrong. Poor traction in wet, TERRIBLE traction in snow. 25k miles on them and I can hardly wait for them to wear out so I can replace them. They have enough tread that I guess I will suffer through the coming winter with them again in spite of my dislike for their performance in wet/snow. Hopefully I can justify tossing them at the end of next summer.
Re: Michelin LTX M/S or Bridgestone Dueler Revo's?
I just slapped a set of Revos on my '04 Tacoma after 65k miles on my stock BFG Rugged Trails. Any suggestions on what PSI I should be running in the Revos (265/70/R16)?
Re: Michelin LTX M/S or Bridgestone Dueler Revo's?
Tundraengineer I have had the Michelin tires on my truck for over 30,000 miles and am very happy with them. I see you are in Sacramento. Let me know if you want to check out my tires and drive the truck to see how they feel and handle.

Re: Michelin LTX M/S or Bridgestone Dueler Revo's?
Might want to consider the Goodyear Wrangler AT. Got the first set on a '90 Isuzu Trooper 4x4 as original equipment. Got about 70K miles. Have had 5 sets since on other 4x4 vehicles ('96 Trooper, '04 Xterra) and averaged about 70K miles every time. Lived in Indiana for 8 years and they did good in the snow. Just got an '07 Taco access cab. It came with Dunlop M&S tires. Tread pattern lousy IMO for either application, so I installed a set of Wranglers, the Dunlops will go on my daughter's Xterra 4x2(she never goes off road).
Re: Michelin LTX M/S or Bridgestone Dueler Revo's?
Thank you all for the helpful information. I ended up buying the Michelin LTX's. I have ~8K on them now and WOW am I impressed! This tire rides very well and the dry traction is phenomenal. I can't wait to see how they will perform during the rainy season. I have been pleasantly surprised at how well they have worn so far. They have stayed well balanced and I have not lost one pound of air pressure in any tire. The only issue I have had is when I had America's Tire install them. There was another Tundra getting tires that day and they put two of his tires on my truck and left on of my original tire on I was not happy but they remedied the problem and the store manager gave me a call two day's later asking me if I could stop by the store. He gave me his apologies and a gift card for $75 to a local well known steak house. I was VERY impressed! I have never had any issues at Les Schwab but I think I may continue to use America's Tire since their customer service was so superb. Thank you all again.

You will love those tires. I now 90,000 on mine and they are still going strong. Have only had one flat (nail), got it plugged 60,000 miles ago no problem. I should be able to get 100,000 out of this set. I will without a doubt buy another set when these wear out. The handling and traction is still fantastic. I never worry about these tires. Enjoy.

Re: Michelin LTX M/S or Bridgestone Dueler Revo's?
Pretty hard to compare these two tires, one is an all-season and one is an all-terrain. The Michelins suck if you do much offroading where as the Duellers do pretty good off-roading. The Michelin IMO is for the 4wd owners that rarely do any 4wd driving and want a quiet highway tire, where as the Dueller is a great all-terrain tire. I used to love the BFG AT KO's and think they are probably the best All Terrain tire if I didn't live in a winter wonderland but the rubber is just too hard for our winter driving. At sub zero temps (which is most of the winter) they dont provide good ice traction as the rubber gets too hard. The Dueller AT Revos have been the best of both worlds for me. Tire advice is tricky cuz all our needs and geographical locations are different.

I beg to differ. I lived offroad in the mountains of northern New Mexico for 3 1/2 years. My '00 Tundra and my wife's '01 Sequoia were (and still are) equipped with Michelin LTX M/S in P265/70R16. The tires were fabulous in all conditions, including heat (+106 degrees), cold (-26 degrees), dry, wet, snow, ice, mud, gravel, and sand. We needed 4WD just to get out of our driveway from December through March, and sometimes April. We have never been stuck or even close to stuck. And, you are correct; they are a magnificent highway tire.
While deer hunting with my brother, he in his '96 Bronco II equipped with "Mud Campaigner" tires and me in my Tundra, I went anywhere he did (which was miles offroad). The fields were covered with a 12" snowfall opening day and with mud when it melted away the next. He was thoroughly bummed out by the experience. I just smiled.
Re: Michelin LTX M/S or Bridgestone Dueler Revo's?
DJ I am glad that you like The Michelins and they have served you well but they were never intended to be used in mud or true offroad use, their tread pattern is not one that has an aggressive bite like the Revo. The Revo is one of Bridgestones most aggressive all terrain tires before you step into the mud tire category. Just saying they aint apples and apples. Like I said one is an all-season and one is an all-terrain. The Michelin is a great highway with some 4 wd use tire but its not an all-terrain tire by any stretch of the imagination. Michelin makes some all-terrain tires like the LTX- AT but the MS is a highway tire. Heres a couple pics that tell it all.
Re: Michelin LTX M/S or Bridgestone Dueler Revo's?
In "LTX M/S", the "M/S" stands for "Mud and Snow". Here is what Michelin says about it:
Drive With Confidence In Nearly Any Weather
That is the statement, on Michelin's website, that distinguishes the LTX M/S from the LTX A/T and the Cross Terrain SUV.
Further:
Our best-selling light truck tire, the Michelin® LTX® M/S tire helps provide exceptionally long-lasting, balanced performance in any condition, even mud and snow.
Full-depth sipes help deliver up to 15 percent better snow traction than the competition and provide ultimate grip in almost any kind of weather.
Thus the LTX M/S is a tire that is designed and sold by Michelin to handle all weather conditions, specifically including mud and snow. That means it's not just a highway tire.
Are they the optimum offroad tire? Of course not, and I did not state or imply otherwise. But they are, in my experience, very capable offroad, indeed for more capable than you apparently give them credit for. Been there, done that.
And, they are made by Michelin. Given that I buy only Michelin tires, I find that quite satisfying.

Ditto DJ. I have driven in mud snow sand etc in mine, never had a problem. Granted I do NOT drive off road often, but these tires are the BEST I have ever owned. They are also completely quiet on the road.
