Default Anyone riding on 285/50/20 tires in a 04 -06 Tundra?

Hi,

I currently have 295/45/20's (kumho's) on a 20 x 8.5" Evo rim, but the tires are wearing out quickly on the edges (partially because of how I drive and partially because that tire is really too wide for 8.5" wide wheel.) The 295/45/20 fits nicely, no rub and is the same overall diameter as the OEM's.

So, when I look to replace them, I can do what tirerack recommends and put 265/50/20, which there are many nice options for, or what I would like to do is switch to a 285/50/20, which, depending on the tire is 0.5 or 0.7" inches bigger in overall diameter - will I be okay or will that rub with the wheel cranked all the way?

Thanks in advance,

jmo

I think you're right on with the 285/50/20's. I'm running 295/45/20's right now as well on Weld Evo's. The 295's are very close to stock size, but they are actually too small for the speedo calibration on my '05 Sequoia. I know this because I have a GPS head unit and I can track my actual GPS speeds.
I run 265/70/17's on my stock rims in the winter months, and they are dead on with my speedo. They are a 31.5" tire, just like the 285/50/20's are.

I've been really happy with my Toyo Proxes in the 295/45, but I will definately replace them with the 285/50's when the time comes.
