Chris(Simias) started a thread with the following message: "i know this comes up a lot, so i thought that it would be a good thread for people looking for rims." "so if you've got AM rims on your ride, whether it be 16" offroad rims to 26" street rims please post what you've got and a pic if possible."
Only 3 people have replied. When I began my search for wheels, it would have been great to be able to see all the different combinations for our Tundras all in one place. C'mon fellas, I know that a lot of you have upgraded to after market wheels/tires. Let's let everyone else see our rides!
I got 20x9 Helo Kicks with some Goodyear Eagle LS 275/55/20s. I originally tried some 285/50/20s and I can tell everyone that with 0 offset they will NOT fit.

Thanks, Chris. There's some tight rides on this site. I hope we can get a lot more posted. I love the dubs, but since most people want more like a 16" offroad setup, I'd like to see some of them, too. Thanks for all you do.

I noticed that Simias' (Chris) wheels have zero offset, while SequoiaSR5's has 14mm offset/5.25" backspacing. Were those numbers determined by the wheel manufacturing or were they custom made for you all?
Check out the "Wheel Specs" section at www.eaglewheels.com for a cross sectional view of a wheel, and a definition of the specs. When you increase the wheel width from the stock width of 7", you are going to automatically change the offset or the backspacing or both. The diagram will help you visualize why this is the case. My wheels are 8.5" wide, which means that they would stick out an extra .75" on each side if they maintain the stock offset of 14mm. Since the inside flange is .75" further away from the mounting surface than stock, the offset is increased by .75" to 5.25" from the stock offset of 4.5". Simias has 9" wide wheels (I believe), so the offset would be less than 14mm if the backspacing were 5.25". I haven't done all of the math to determine what the backspacing would be for a 9" wide wheel with 0mm offset, but I believe that it is less than 5.25".
As for your other question -- I wouldn't pay for "truly custom" wheels. If you're like me, you'll shop around and choose a "standard" wheel that fits.
Sup People....I've got 17" Niche Stings wrapped with some Yokohama AVS S/T 265/60's on my T100. Waiting patiently for Toyota to come out with a Double Cab Tundra so I can put some 20's on it and a supercharger once they finally get it put together right.

Scud, where'd you get those Jaos Vigas and how much did you pay? I was looking into getting the Victron Excel's but they were some serious $$$. I only found one place on the net that sold them and I called 5 or 6 tire dealers here in San Dog and no one knew what the heck I was talking about! You've got a sweet ride man!

you could call Jaos directly and ask for their distributor in SD. also, Brian Lee (TS member of the tundra/sequoia front bumper fame) was selling his Victron Excel IIs (not sure if they were the regulars or the Excell II Pros) a while ago for hella cheap. not sure if they are still for sale though. i'll email him if you were interested. btw, the Ziga's are more expensive than the Victron Excel IIs because they are a true 3 piece rim.
Jaos just moved to their new office at:
11223 East Rush St, Ste G
So El Monte CA 91733
626.618.1008
hope this helps!

Simias, thanks for the info on the Jaos wheels. I'll give them a call and see what they say. I went to their website and called their 'dealers,' and they were the ones that didn't have any clue as to what I was talking about. Maybe the shop's "weekend crews" weren't exactly up to speed. I'll definitely try the info you gave me...thanks again!
Andy
