Hey, I've got a TRD tundra and am getting cornfed spacers put on this weekend. I was wondering if anyone knows what the biggest tires I can fit on a leveled TRD tundra are?
Without a larger lift, the biggest you can go are 285/75/16's. Anything bigger than that will require more lift, and will negatively affect your acceleration and gas mileage.
I just had BFG AT KO's installed 285/75/16. Even with the Performance Products 1" lift progressive springs, they still rub ocassionally. Worse however, the accelaration is comromised dramatically and apparent fuel economy is down substantially. Take into account that my new tires travel 15% farther per revolution then the stock tires, & the MPG suffers only slightly. My advice is DON'T DO IT! I'm stuck for 50-60K miles before I can downsize to something more realistic. Plan to spend $ to improve performance if you do. Maybe a supercharger is in my future.

Regear to 4.56 ratio and your problem w/accel and mileage and anything else performace related with that new tire size will disappear in an instant. Gears are roughly $1k installed and you won't have to go back to a smaller tire size.
It also depends on which wheel you have. I ran into a lot of difficulty after installing the FabTech Coilover lift and add-a-leafs in the rear. The stock 17" wheel does not have the sufficient backspacing to allow for the 285s. When I attempted it, it hit the upper control arm. I even entertained spacers, but decided against it. So, I am running 265 BFG ATs on my stock 17" wheels. From the research I have done, you need a 16" wheel with at least 4-5/8" backspacing. The sad reality is, the stock 17" wheel is nice and difficult to replace (for looks and more importantly--cost).
275/70/16's bfg at ko biggest tire to fit stock on 05 tundra limited 4x4 trd. still enough room to kick out mud/snow and give a little extra footprint in the sand.
4x4 shops have also told me the 285/75/16's will rub even with lifts. the 275's give you a speed difference of @ 1.5 mph low on the speedometer at 65mph.
You have a 2006 Tundra with higher HP than the earlier engines- you won't notice the loss of power as much- I have an 05 Dcab and have 285's on it. I have a heavy foot and it really hasn't been a big deal at all- i've got all the power I need at takeoff and I still tow a 27 ft offshore boat.
