I'm sure this has been covered before, but the other tire pressure threads seem to be so poluted with so much onfor on so many different tires so I'm going to ask it in a new thread. What tire pressure is good to run in this tire? I meant to find out before I got the tires so I could have them fill it to my specs with the nitrogen, but I forgot.
I run 42 psi all around, but I don't mind the stiffer ride, I'm lazy and don't like to change my air every time I tow, and my mileage seem a half of point higher when commuting.

If you ever ran a tire balancer you'd realize the chalk test is worthless. When tires rotate at any speed at all they start to elongate at the tread center.
i have 285 65 18's and have mine at 41. Rides rough IMO. Im lazy and havent done the chalk test yet. I guess ill just drop them down to 35-36psi all around as well. Anyone with 285 65 18's do the chalk test?

Theres another thread and some people are running as low as 35 all the way around. Im tempted to try. Im currently at 40-41 but the ride is a little bumpy. i have like 4k miles on the tires and the wear looks ok. I really do need to do the chalk test. i rarely load it up or tow with it (towing has never been more then 1500ish pounds).

Hey Fire_Mike, Looking at your fire truck it looks just like ours. Are a paid or volunteer.
We are all volunteers except in cities within NY State. However we have two saying posted on all 7 of our trucks. The first one says " Professionally Staffed by Volunteers" and the other one show the American Flag with the following statement underneath " These Colors Don't Run"
Be Careful,
Bob

I am paid, although I'd do it for free. We have one station and we staff a single engine with four (but we have a second out engine, ladder, brush, and air and light truck as well). The truck is a 2007 American LaFrance - it's just like the Phoenix, AZ trucks since we got in on thier bid to buy it. I'm lucky enought to be an engineer, so I get to drive it all the time.
