Default Rotate Own Tires - Will I Need Rebalancing?

2007 Tundra DC 4x4.

I want to rotate my own tires. Should I be able to without having to rebalance them? I have 5k miles. Anything else I should know about besides just taking them off, swapping their position front to back and then tightening them back up?

Thanks.

Default Re: Rotate Own Tires - Will I Need Rebalancing?

If they were balanced on an ordinary off-the-car balancer, as all are at the factory, then no rebalance is needed when rotating tires.

My preferred rotation is called the "modified X" pattern. The rear tires move straight to the front, and the front tires cross to the opposite rear. They can be moved one at a time with a jackstand and a floor jack. Start at the left rear. Move it to the left front, which moves to the right rear, which moves to the right front, which moves to the left rear. You can jack up the left rear, remove the wheel, support it with a jackstand, and then move the jack from position to position, finally ending up at the left rear again.
