Default 2007 Tundra adaptors

I got a great deal on some wheels that I know will not fit my truck directly. So I know that there are adaptors out there. I have also heard that adaptors are not recomended to fit a wheel. But then why do they make adaptors for? Any have an opinion on using adaptors to fit a wheel.
