This is a discussion thread titled "TRD 16" - which lug nuts?", within the Tires and Wheels forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Hi,
I bought a used set of 16" TRD wheels that came off of an '05 or an '06 I believe.
I'd like to swap them out with the steel wheels that are on my non-TRD 2003 4WD Tundra.
The new-to-me used wheels did not come with lug nuts. Can anyone tell me which chrome after market lug nuts to buy? The factory lug nuts are expensive.
I've attached an image of the type of wheel for which I need lug nuts.
Not sure about the lug nuts, but they ARE the same wheels as on my '06 TRD 4x4. The lug nuts are standard-type that set into the wheel about a half inch or so.
That's what the dealer told me. 2006 wheels then, I guess. I found a set of lug nuts on Craigslist for 25$ that protrude in about 12mm or 1/2" from the metal washer that sound like they should work. They came off of a 2002 TRD Tundra.
Even though the wheels appear flat at the point that the lug nuts connect, they say that the nuts are slightly cone shaped so that they can be used with the steel spare.
Does this sound like the lugs on your Tundra?

Thanks,

Yes. I've had my spare on twice and the lug nuts work just fine and the cone fits nicely on the steel wheel.
