Default 20" on 2008 Tundra SR5 (novice question)

I'm buying my first truck and certainly not a gear head so please go easy on me. I'm about to purchase a new 2008 Tundra SR5 4.7L 4x4 with the off-road package. I don't need the off-road package but that's what's left on the lot so that's that. I want to add 20" wheels/tires to it. I want to know if this is generally possible without making modifications to the truck. Will I run into turning issues? I know this may increase the turning radius which is fine but will it cause the tire to hit the frame of the truck?

Any info is helpful. For instance, if you think low profile tires work but not normal 20" off-road tires, etc. I don't plan to do any off-roading. I'm a light truck user. Thanks for your help.

Adam

The only thing you have to make sure of is that the new wheels are hubcentric. I recently added 22" wheels to mine and the center bore is 110.5 mm the toyota hub is 110. Now I have an issue with vibration at highway speeds. Toyotas are very finicky about the hubcentric wheels as I have now learned. I have now a set of wheels that are a problem. The other thing to consider is the offset and back space but most wheel dealers have access to all that and will help you find the wheel that will work. Turning radius should not change much unless you go with bigger tires or an extreme offset. My tires are 305/45/22 with an offset of +35 and the turn radius has increased but still near what the stock tires would did. Remeber the hub is what keeps the wheel centered on these trucks not the lug nuts like most others so the center bore is absolutly critical.

I upgraded from the 18"TRD to the 20" optional "Carved" wheels. No problems.

No issues at all. The trd wheels/tires you have are 18x8 with 275/65/18 tires on it. The standard 20" alloys that come on alot of the limiteds are 20x8 with 275/55/20's.
