Default Wheels for 315/70/17s ?

What wheels can I use for 315/70/17s or 295/75/16's? I want to do the 315s if I have enough room after a body lift. I have about 3.75" on the front and extra leaf in the back. If I go with a 3" body lift, what wheels do I need?

It looks like I need some wheels with 3 5/8 backspacing from what I've read here. I test fit a 295 on stock wheels and it rubs the frame and touches the upper control arm. I think that I've eliminated the control arm touching. I'll have to check. If I go with a 16 x 8, 16x10, or 17x10, what backspacing would I need? It seems that most wheels only come in 4 1/2 bs.

If anyone knows who makes the right wheel, I would appreciate it. I've only found Mickey Thompsons in the less than 4 1/2 backspacing. Thanks for your help.

I would go with 10'' wheels w/ 4.5'' backspacing, with 8'' wheels with 3 5/8 backspacing the tire will scrub the frame. I don't mind trimmin a little metal to stop rubbing, but you can't really do anything about the frame rubbing. Oh ya, and with a 3'' body lift and 3'' of front end lift, those tires will fit fine.

Thanks Wesley! You da man! I was thinking of BF Goodrich all terrains in that size. The 295s rubbed the frame on the stock wheels so I thought that I might need 3 5/8 bs. I guess that the wider tire with such a large diameter would rub the frame with 3 5/8 wheels. 4 1/2s are much easier to find. I just don't want to have to use any spacers.

Why is it though that everyone seems to always say to get 3 5/8 bs? It seems that hardly anyone makes that size.

Most people that get 3 5/8 backspacing normally are getting 8'' wide wheels. With 10'' wide wheels and 4.5'' backspacing you should be fine, but be sure to test fit to make sure. Leathernuts runs this setup with no rubbing, so you should be fine.

I searched the forum and found some interesting threads. It seems that Leathernuts can use 4.5 bs because he has a drop bracket and that lowers the diameter of the tire below the frame. This in effect makes it not rub the frame. It seems that some other people were having rubbing problems without the drop bracket. Anyone else running these tires without the drop bracket type lift? If so, what backspacing?

Weld Sidewinders, Mountain Crushers, and Stone Crushers all come in 16x10 with 3 5/8 inches of backspacing. A cheaper alternative is some rock crawlers, you can get a 16x10 w/ 4'' of backspacing.

Another option is the pro comp Xtreme alloy. It looks almost identical to the MT classic II's, and it is built to the same standards. They make it in the 16x8 with 4" backspacing or the 16x10 with 4.5" backspacing. These rims or gorgeous. Just an alternative.
