Angry tire wear

Hello all
I have the Michelin LTX tires on my 2003 Tundra and used DJ's specs. for the last alignment, I did have 35psi on all tires, currently have 43k on them but noticed awhile back the very center tread is wearing faster than the outside treads. Thought this was due to overinflation so dropped the air down, my door sticker calls for 26f and 29r which seems pretty low to me, but I did drop it down to 29f and 32r but the problem is still there. Is there anything else that can cause just the tire's center to wear faster than the outside treads besides overinflation, can bad shocks cause this problem? Overall I'm fairly satisfied with the LTXs except for this wear problem and hope to get 50k. out of them. The outside treads are about 5/32 and the center 3/32. and it's obvious the middle is wearing out faster. Thanks for any input.

Default Re: tire wear

Very likely the wear was caused by overinflation. I run 29 psi front and rear on mine, increasing the rear only as needed when carrying a load.

As I posted elsewhere:
I use Michelin LTX M/S on my '00 Tundra and my wife's '01 Sequoia.

The tires on the Tundra have 11/32" of tread left. They started with 15/32" and will hit the wear indicators at 3/32". Thus they are at the 1/3 point of their useful life. They have 39,116 miles on them, so they should be good for, in round numbers, 117,000 miles.

The tires on the Sequoia have a similar story. They should be good for 120,000 miles.
And, I checked my brother's Silverado yesterday. His LTX M/S, same size as mine, should be good for 120,000 miles also.

Very likely you cannot correct the wear you already have, but you can prevent it on your next set. I suggest trying what has worked for us.

Angry Re: tire wear

Thanks DJ for the insight. Man, that's incredible wear for your tires, and I see you use the lower psi. 29, for your tires. I think I can still get some decent wear out of my tires. Maybe Toyota's tire pressure recommendation for the 2003 Tundra is right. Thanks again for your reply.
