Default Another Wheeler's Steelies Question...

Alright, I like the look (and cost!) of the wheeler's steelies, but I've heard that people have a hard time balancing them. Does anyone who has these wheels have any input on this? Also, they're heavy. Any performance loss?

Also, I was thinking about the Pro Comp Alloys that wheelers also has, but I would buy them from 4 wheel parts since wheelers is in Oregon and I am in NY and well, 4 24 lb wheels shipped cross country... you get the picture.

In short, The alloys are lighter and may fit better/balance easier, but the steelies are cheaper and I like the look of them with the smaller holes, although they may have fitment and balancing problems. Any comments? Does this even make sense?

I have the Wheeler's alloys and like them alot. I live in New England and make many snowmobiling trips to NH in the winter and they have held up pretty well but lately have noticed some powdercoating issues. I think they are about 5 years old. For the price and fitment I would buy them again. GET THE CHROME LUG NUTS WITH THE EXTENDED NOSE IF YOU GET THE ALLOYS--IF NOT THEY ARE A PAIN IN THE AZZ TO CENTER ON THE HUB AND WILL CAUSE BALANCE ISSUES.

I've got the Steelies. I bought them used from an ex-TS member, way back in 2003. At the time there were balancing issues and the original purchaser of my wheels sent back and was sent a couple of different wheels in an effort to resolve the issue. When I got them 3 were round and one could roll well if you took pains to balance it right. Last year I decided I wanted a matching spare and bought a new wheel. It's perfectly round, so it may be that the imbalance issue is old and long fixed.....I prefer the steels in looks, but with 255/85 tires that makes for about an 87 pound combo to rotate every 5000 miles!
