i was shopping around for the Firestone Destination A/T when a local mom n pop tire dealer here told me he could sell me the Cooper at a better price, and in his words, it was a better tire in terms of an all terrain. He can sell me either, BTW.
i'm looking to replace the BFG's on my '03 Tundra SR5 4WD, size 265 70R 16. I live in western NC, we get snow here, but nothing to compare with other parts of the country. I use the truck for occasional commuting, light hauling (< 5000 lbs) and occasional off roading, mostly on my own property to do odd jobs.
does anyone have knowledge of either or both of these tires. the Cooper is roughly ~$100 (including a $75 rebate) cheaper mounted.
I work for a new car dealership and have dealt with almost every brand of tire. I would NEVER put a Cooper tire on anything I own. It's a good tire to throw on a vehicle if it's going to the auction.

thanks for the feedback. i was shying away from the Cooper anyway, and the firestone dealer is going to give me the September pricing on the destination (25% off) since I printed out an online quote valid for 30 days last week.
they're doing the same % off on the dueler revo this month if anyone is in the market for a set.
I believe Sept.-Oct. is the usual time when Bridgestone-Firestone has their four tires for the price of three sale. I got the Destination ATs and am very happy with them. They are a great wet road tire. They look better on the truck than in the showroom. I've got about 15K on mine & there's no appreciable wear. I'm not hard on tires, though. I'll get them again.
I'm on my second set of ST's...the first got 50,000 miles of every on and off road condition the eastern US can dish out. My second set is wearing as well as the first, with the same useage.
My experience with ATRs is limited to my FILs Titan, and a friend out west. Both really like them, as they are wearing well and getting their trucks through their daily lives without issue.

Not wanting to hijack a thread....but, the ST's on my truck are louder than the BFG At, and the ATR's on the Titan are maybe a little quieter than the BFG AT's. Yes, I've had the BFG AT's on my truck so I know the ST's are louder. I've also been told the ST's are quieter than a true MT, but I honestly don't know that.

I will second this as I have had many sets of Cooper tires with very good wear and service for any repairs. I have a set of Discovery HT's on right now with over 50 k on them and winter is coming here and I will run these over this winter and replace them next fall, with another set of Cooper's, which by the way is one of only (TWO) made in America tire company's anymore.
By the way the HT's are good in snow, rain , and I do a small amount of off road and have been happy with the performance, most tires will do good with 4 wheel drive, I also am impressed the load rating and how they handle the loads.
I also have a set of C4 Touring Coopers on my wifes CRV and they are rated for 80 k and the do great in the rain, and snow. Plus they are quiet on the road.
