Default "new" TSB for those of you who have had rear axle leaks

DL002-03 - "The rear axle seal lip design has been changed from a flat face type to an angled face type."

my rear axle started leaking after just 5k miles. this was some time ago, so i got the old style seal, but if it happens again, at least i'll know to remind them to use the new design.

Would this cause the axle to be loose (wheel goes in and out) or would it only leak?

My 01 Tundra has 92,000 on it. I haven't towed anything with it and only hauled some light stuff with it. Never went off road.
Front brakes were always crap and rear seals leaked since 50,000. Keep pulling axles and changing seals. FOR WHAT? I've totally given up on Toyota. I have never owned a bigger piece of crap!. I baby my vehicles. Change oil every 2000 miles. Change gear lube every 10,000. Rotate my tires. Don't speed or lead foot it. I am constantly crawling around and under my Tundra to see what else is going to go wrong.
- What after market front brake assembly can be bought to fix the brake issue? I'm not buying anything off of Toyota.

I think my right eye is starting to twitch. I've never had a vehicle piss me off so much.
Synthetic bad. Petrolium good.

ive heard of a couple "friday" trucks...usually early models...

of course, i have an 00 and beat the crap out of it, and the drivetrain is still bone stock. i finally got a minor leak at the tcase companion flange a few months ago, probably the breather got clogged, the seal was worn, synth fluid is tenacious, and the belly skid keeps the heat in, so oil started getting past the seal.

nothing else has ever leaked...

the brakes youre looking for are bembro? brembo? whatever...slotted rotors and a set of nice pads...hawk, porterfield, or the stuff stoptech recommends. i had massive problems with the front brakes until i switched to aftermarket rotors and pads...havent messed with anything else in the brake department, the rear axle has never been touched except to change the gear oil.

Also, you can look into Powerslot rotors. I have not had a problem since I changed my rotors a few years back. Before changing them I have had 2 TSBs done for the famous shimmy. After the change to the Powerslots, I had not had any problems. Also my wheels stay clean for months on end now instead of weekly.

On the axle leak issue, what would I need to recondition my rear axles. I'm almost definite that the rear seals are shot (I do have a slightly oily axle tube). I want to get this thing back up to tip top shape for next spring.
