Default Sequoia Wheel Upgrade Options ???

Hey everybody,

I know that there have been several threads on wheels in the past, but I can't really find anything in the forum now.

Can I ask all of you that have put aftermarket wheels on your Sequoias to PLEEEEEEEASE post...

- the rim size and brand
- the tire size and brand
- do they rub at all?

and anything else that you think would help us newbies who are trying to setup our Sequoias.

Thanks!

Jabster,

check out this thread:
Larger Wheels FAQ has a lot of info on what fits and what doesn't. as well as some pictures.

pretty much all of the topics that aren't really general Sequoia questions will be in the specific topical forums. it will take a little getting used to, but it's the best way to get the most info and responses from our members.

btw, all of my mods can be seen on my www

jabster,

post questions or what not on that thread and you should get answers to most, if not all, of your questions. the good thing is that the tundra folks can add their opinions as well. good luck!

Frank,

Here's some information that was posted a while back. Hope this helps - Dan

I printed this out a long time ago that, I think, Simias put together
"Tire size Overall diameter/width (inches)
265/70/16= 30.6/10.4 Stock
265/75/16= 31.6/10.4
275/70/16= 31.2/10.8 nota4re: no rub
275/75/16= 32.2/10.8
285/70/16= 31.7/11.2
285/75/16= 32.8/11.2 RMonsom: No rub, lifted 2.5
285/75/16= 32.8/11.2 SilverEyeInTheSky: rub
265/60/18= 30.5/10.4 1vstV8: no rub
285/60/18= 31.5/11.2 OMEGA: Don't know
285/60/18= 31.5/11.2 Bad_Knees: Rub
265/50/20= 30.4/10.4 Mine: No rub"

Again, I think Simias put this together but anyway, this will tell you what rubs, and what doesn't. When I was looking at rims I looked at 18x9 with 265/60-18 which wouldn't rub or 20x10 with 265/50-20 which looks like it wouldn't rub either. Good Luck - Dan

'91 V6 with 207K. Had to replace the engine @ 125K because of the head gasket issue. Pitted the block. I replaced the engine not knowing of the recall. After I found out about the recall, sent my receipts to Toyota and they reimbursed me all of my money and then did another head gasket replacement. She's my little girl

Same here with 90 v6 with the head gasket job done by toyota dealer at about 90k. Fully reimbursed by toyota with the recall

BTW, got any pic with the new 265/50/20 yet Dan?

Unhappy Don't have them yet

Had to put the rims on the back burner because stuff is happening at work. I think I'm in the clear but you never know. Believe me, when I order them, everyone will know!

Hey I hear you guys about the headgasket thing. I also have an '89 V6 truck. Mine was not covered under the full recall but under a limited time recall I guess you could call it that I got in the mail from Toyota. I had about 95k on the truck as the time and no headgasket problems but hey, it was free so I had it done while I could. No problems with it, 146k on it now.

toy - Heads up. Toyota started to replace the head gasket with the old style head gasket instead of the improved head gasket. A friend of mine had his gasket replaced way back when and then again just recently because they determined it was the old style head gasket.

LOL! i'm as anxious about your rims as you are too!

btw, i've had my stock SR5 rims on since my tahoe trip and it's killing me that my 20s aren't on! the ride just doesn't feel the same. i just haven't had the time to put them back on, plus i have to remove (hopefully no pucture) a screw in one of my tires.
