This is a discussion thread titled "So whos running the lightest wheels?", within the Tires and Wheels forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Centerline Wheels has 18' that are 18~20 pounds and 16'' that are lighter
check the Tomahawk series wheels. Other companys are VOLK and HRE but the 18'' run like $500-600 bucks the centerlins 18'' are under $200
its time to take it all out. I had a good time gutting my last car. then installing a 9 point weld in roll cage. As for the Tundra. I am having someone make me a custom roll cage which is not to intrude on occupant space. Basically I want it to line the contours inside of the cab.
Oh and as for as wheels go, I dont like Centerlines. my last set cracked going over some small pot holes very slow. I like the OZ Superleggras 3 piece. Nice lightweight strong wheels.
ok here the deal...first off if you're gonna do street racing...4X4 won't really help it might in the long run but as for taking off all 4 wheels gonna turn and that takes up power cuz you got 4 running. If you're into dirt perfect situation. What you really need to do is think about all the stuff you're getting and upgrading it. I see on your accessories that is non engine related is worthless if you're looking for light and power. GET RID OF THEM. Unless you're just showing off that's cool. If you're gonna upgrade the exhaust upgrade the headers as well cuz in this forum on exhaust saying about losing power and torque if going with dual exhaust. Watch what you're doing okay. I made the same mistake with my other vechile. I put a big engine but lots of accessories and realized it was worth crap if I am gonna race them. The less the better. I am just commenting from what I am seeing so if I am wrong then just disregard this message.

i have no idea how this has anything to do with the question i asked.........
oh and by the way i street race every single chance i get -
04' ss silverado from the light - i won -those trucks run high 14's in the 1/ mile -
ive also raced and won vs. a 03' GTP (supercharged) pontiac- and the list goes on -mustangs, vettes kill me obviously - i figure im running high 14's to low 15's and all im asking here is about wheels - stage 5 or whatever weight reduction would be great for drag racing but then my truck would be worthless for resale.
if there was some heavy objects that i could unbolt (ex. spare tire) then that would be somthing id consider - the 4x4 is for a reason - I wanted the fastest 4x4 pickup on the street with a factory engine and i feel im close to that goal - anyone can drop a big block 502 ci. 500 h.p. chevy in a old 2wd truck and smoke any 2wd tundra alive thats street legal.
volks sound great and i know of a member here with them but 2 problems-
one - i cant find a web site with prices.
second - i cant find weights for the volks or centerlines.
I do know the stock 16" alloy wheel and stock BFG weigh 56 lbs together. If I get a chance I'll weigh the spare BFG (unmounted). I'm guessing the alloy at about 20 lbs. BTW if you racing in 2wd leave the spare in, I think the added weight will be offset by the traction given over the rear wheels.

You're best off going with a 15" rim if weight is your concern and that is if it will fit too. 18" rims even if they're lighter in weight than the stock rims still have a higher polar moment of inertia because the mass of the wheel is pushed outward away from the axle.
I’ve seen a stock 2003 regular cab 5.3 Chevy run 15.4 in the quarter mile on a cold day, I doubt they can do 14” stock. Many of them do worse than that at New England Dragway.

check out the TE37x's. from what i've heard they're like 18lbs. they're similar to the common TE37s that you've seen before, but a lot smaller and the spokes are "flatter". HERE's a link to some close up pix (click on Volk Racing, then on TE37 X) and HERE's another link to some pix on some SUVs (click on 4x4).

well i want to thank all of you for your input thus far
V8 im kinda leaning towards the 16-18" range because of 2 reasons
1st - i still want to be able to hop curbs and go off-road when needed -so i cant go over 18's, i understand the larger the wheel the more weight, i guess im looking for the lightest truck wheels at 16" and the lightest at 18". im looking to buy light weight wheels not "the lightest whell period"
2nd i want good road/cornering ability's -the 18" would let me run a shorter sidewall tire helping the hard cornering.
I can buy the 16" TRD wheels for under $800.00 and they seem to be a good quality wheel i just can not find out how much they weigh.

as far as the chevy, well this one (the one i raced and beat) was a AWD SuperSport Silverado and according to MotorTrend they have run 14.8 in the 1/4 . It was close
